Something To Think About

I recently came across this video and until now I decided to share it with you guys. It has really made me think about the things I do, why I do them, whether or not I really should be doing these things that I am doing and to what extent to they matter to me and to the ones around me.

Below is the youtube video of Dr. Richard Teo.

I understand that IB, MC, etc are all excellent stepping stones for our future careers, but we can all be doing something more meaningful. Money, power, prestige, respect, success, and so forth all play a role in this. Most importantly society is a big influence in this case. I mean, Richard Teo was pretty much at his prime, a rainmaker, however you would like to describe him, he was pretty much at the top, but at the end all of this didn't really matter to him.

So what do you guys think?

Are you all satisfied with what you're currently doing. Obviously there is always something better you could be doing and this question comes into play. If [money, prestige, credibility, exit ops, etc...] wasn't a factor what would you be doing? Or if [insert what you are passionate at doing] had the same amount of [pay, recognition, benefits, etc...] as IBD, MC, PE, etc...wouldn't you rather be doing that?

Of course these two questions are just hypothetical situations and won't really come true, but they are something to think about to get the discussion started.

Let's share some thoughts.
