Watch Out Guys: Dating Pool Shrinking (Or for some, growing)

Clothing for Big Women Bucks Downward Trend in Apparel Sales

While sales of women's apparel declined 0.8% between mid-2009 and mid-2010, the market for "plus size" women's clothing — starting at size 14 — increased 1.4%. The Centers for Disease Control reports that nearly two-thirds of U.S. women are now overweight or obese.

...for the pushin'

Females are in a pretty shitty position. Not only do they out number guys in general, but they also tend to out live us...which means there are fewer and fewer choices as they get older.

Now, if you throw in the increasing waist size they will have a smaller chance at hooking a guy and grow old alone. Not to mention they don't stay as fertile as late as men (if my memory serves me correct) and marriages are trending later and later due to extend education and focus on career advancement.

Plus it is socially more acceptable for a guy to be 40 and single but not so much for a woman. All the more reason I am going to stay single and play the ever increasing field (yes, pun intended).

Regards

With the assumption of a fairly monogamous population (ie. most guys aren't impregnating 5+ women), the system you're describing will fix itself in the long run. Natural selection FTW!

You are right, in theory, but one thing I think you have to factor in is the high divorce rate. So while I see the point you are getting at, you do have to account for the fact that many of the older single ladies have been married and many of them already have kids, so its not that they aren't reproducing because they are 'old and alone', they just that the likelihood of them being happy with their soul mate, or whatever, is rather small because guys have a lot to choose from compared to woman in a similar position.

Just remember guys:

You can drink an ugly girl pretty, but you can't drink a fat girl skinny.

Is that true? I would imagine at that point, it pretty much blur regardless.

Yes, I saw a fat chick in pretty short skirt on the metro this morning. It was pretty disgusting.

junkbondswap:
Edmundo, I think you would readily admit that not to be the case. Beer goggles affect all aspects of appearance including weight. I know youve woken up after a long night of "hogging".

Of course that's true, and I'd be lying if I said I haven't gone big on a few ocassions.

However, if you're going to actually call it "hogging", a purist will tell you that it must be done sober. Otherwise, you can nullify the gross-out factor and win the pot through mere subterfuge. If you're going to take your buddies' money for going home with the fattest chick, common decency and fair play dictates you do it sober.

Not a chance. Very, very few pull that off (greatest chance is a pretty face), but that flubber that wobbles? Nah ah. Fat people disgust me (if they have a LEGIT health problem that's fine), but as for those gluttonous fucks that eat grubby greasy food every day and sit on their lazy asses being unproductive parasites: fuck 'em. They can argue all they want, but it's a core component in their personalities that allows them to be that disgusting. Most fat people choose to be disgusting, they shouldn't complain about being hated on.*

*For the record I used to be overweight and a few people made fun of it a small number of times. That was until I decided to work out. It was great. So any fat people who think I'm just being cruel: I was in that position. I know it's a personality thing, so don't say otherwise.

Good point unqwertyfied,

I was similarly going to say that the 2/3 is an aggregate thing that doesn't account for distribution. If you're a financier of any sort it's highly likely that you'll be in one of the major city centers (NYC, SF, LA, Chi, Bos, etc.) and (luckily) will have limited exposure to middle America (where these high numbers are likely coming from). Thus, the numbers work out a little better for us.

Speaking from the perspective of being born/raised in the Bay Area, I don't even think I can say that 1/3 of the adult women I've met in my life were overweight. Just saying.
