GS IB Data Resources Analyst?

Hey guys, I need some advice. I'm a frequent contributor so I hope you'll at least stop by to say hi.

Any idea what this position entails? Is it Middle or Back office? Any idea on comp and whether it is a good exit from Big 4 Audit? (Position is in SLC)

I know there are some posts on WSO (I use the search frequently) but I still can't seem to find anything definitive on comp or signing bonus or anything like that. Worried it will be straight B.O. comp (42K?) with no signing bonus. Not sure I'd be willing to stop for that.

Also, would it give me any modeling or other experience that I could leverage into IB eventually?

Basically, these guys do bitch work for the IB analysts. Not modeling. Basic stuff that they really, really don't want to do and can farm out to the support team. When I was an analyst we had a team in India for this sort of thing. Say I had a bunch of comps I didn't have time for. I'd send in the request to India ASAP right before I left for home. Come back in the morning, they're sitting in my inbox. Format it a bit and send it over to the associate. Surprised GS has these guys in Salt Lake, but I read over the job description and it's the Mormon version of the India Team. But yeah, you don't want this job. You'd kill yourself. Or at least I would. It's a shitty job. To give you an idea....you just got this email from me at 1am, PST

This is a more "glorified" role of basically pulling research and data to support whatever the guys at iBD need vs. formatting a presentation to GS format, which is what I originally thought the position entailed (i.e. Similar to Working in the presentation center at a BB) . When an IB analyst requests something, it will be in a queue, until you get to it. This could include pulling equity research, pulling a PIB together, transcripts, and other random requests which tend to be time sensitive.

This is a support function, it is not even a back office role. You will literally be doing mindless work that others specifically do no want to do and will virtually have no opportunity to move to IBD. I would not recommend this if you're coming from a big 4 accounting firm.
