NY IBD - What are my chances?

Hi all, first time poster

I'm at a semi-target US school looking to break through to IBD. So far, no luck. My GPA is 4.0 and I have had some interviews at MM firms like EC,L,GH and R. The BBs and Cdn B5 (RBC, BMO, etc.) have not been easy although i have networked a lot. My previous exp is as a SA at a BB in GER in a PWM div, which i got through a job in BO of a MM in FR mainly working the phones etc.

Ideas? I would really appreciate any feedback - plz PM me or rspnd to this pst.

If you've managed to get that many interviews, you just suck at interviewing. Work on that.

Are you sure you go to a "semi target?" a 4.0 in a decent major should get you BB interviews at least. If not, work on your resume. Seems like you are getting some interviews but cant finish. Prep better

define semi-target

also, if L and GH stand for Lazard and Greenhill, I wouldn't classify those as MMs, those are arguably better than many BBs.

anyways, it seems your problem is that you aren't interviewing well and the economy has made it more difficult to get these jobs. (if you were graduating in 2005 you'd be golden)

Lazard is middle market... infact their mm website is lazardMM.com so is greenhill but jus because they are MM doesn't mean they are "beneath" BBs

lazard is NOT middle market. lazard middle market (a subsidiary) is middle market. i think it was originally goldsmith agio helms or somethin (which lazard acquired)

stop using those acronyms. i hope u don't throw up those letters along with gang signs in your interviews when they ask where elsey ou're interviewing.

I really think people need to interview with like 5 crappy places before they start doing IB interviews. Start setting up Northwestern Mutual stuff so you can go in and throw shit against the wall, get comfortable, have the story down. How horrible is it to basically waste interviews when it counts.

there is lazard

and there is lazard middle market, a lazard subsidiary
