I would need actual friends and people who like me enough to respond back for Gchat and Facebook. Nothing beats anonymous online chats with strangers.

I don't know about other people, but I don't want to advertise my name which is on both of those. I think it's fairly easy to get a basic browser chat program set up, not sure about that though. I would definitely love a chat function to shoot the sh*t with you successful folk in real time.

The problem with the chat is that it onl allows 10 users at a time.
Could try Meebo instead.

Have you guys heard of MIRC? I could set up a server for everyone to use free of charge. All you have to do is DL the client and I can give you the server info.
The problem with mIRC is many companies/schools block the necessary ports to access it (at least they used to). Haven't used it in a while, but I've got it on my computer and wouldn't be opposed to using it. I would, however, say it probably won't be a big hit unless you can couple it with a browser applet.
I can definately do that. Let me take care of a few things and on the weekend I'll set up a server/channel for WSO users.
Let me know if there is any interest in this idea. It will be cool to talk to some of you guys in real time.

Why don't we do IRC? There are clients available for iPhone / Android, there's webchat, there's people who still use mIRC...

no promises though....the last time we tried this it was very very buggy.
