by FriedsI know a couple. There's one guy I knew from college that had a 2.9 GPA from a non-target state school that spun his ECs into landing him a job doing M&A at a major bank.
I know another guy with a 3.0 from Emory that was working as an analyst and trader at a Hedge Fund before they closed their doors as a result of the sell-off last September.
Another kid, I went to High School with this guy, graduated Princeton with a 3.0. He had offers from every major firm on the street, ranging from Goldman to Blackstone and all shops in between. The guy was smart as hell, didn't apply himself and did a lot of drugs in HS and the early portion of his college career. It also helped that the guy's father was a major player on Wall Street, opening a ton of doors for him.
You have to either have
by mcdsYou have to either have really good connections and/or go to a top top school
Alternatively, a 3.2 won't keep you out of a great business school, where you can start over grade-wise and go for an associate position

by indian-bankerAlso, does your GPA really matter when you get an automatic interview through connections? Also SEO's minimum requirement is 3.0 I believe so maybe there are some candidates from there.
Grades don't matter as much anymore

No way man, kill the GMAT and you're fine academically. Adcoms understand that there's rampant grade inflation at many schools including Ivies, the GMAT is the great equalizer. Also do extra curriculars to balance out your app.
I'm in at Chicago and Kellogg, withdrew after interview invites from NYU Stern and Columbia. I had a sub-3.0 in Engineering undergrad and am a career switcher. Good luck.

I barely had a 3.0 and had neither really good connections nor went to anywhere close to a target school. Network your ass off, be persistent, and know your technicals.
3.2 is ok in a good/normal
by Ukon3.2 is ok in a good/normal IB job market.. I know a couple of ppl getting into IB with 3.0 GPA or below...
But with the market we've seen so far, it just makes everything extra difficult... Nevertheless, there will always be ppl with mediocre GPA in every analyst class in every bank every year.
Network is the key.
interesting seems as though
by BudFox24interesting seems as though low GPA's are common.

i know you guys arnt adcoms but how do bschools look at old transcripts? I didn't do well my freshmen year and transferred to another school where i have had stellar grades. Are they going to put less weight on my old transcript (i was also taking science courses only)
