15 Year old looking for mentorship trading

Hi my name is Corey and I'm 15 years old. I'm currently a freshmen in High School and want to be a trader when I grow up. I have just started learning forex the last few months and I love it. I know I want to trade when I grow up and I want to get started now.

I know a lot of people read these forums and I'm looking for a mentorship in trading. I want to learn forex but, I would be willing to learn futures market too I'm interested in commodities.

I trade all night long then when I come home from school I go to bed and wake up to trade during the night again. I want to be one of the best traders in the world and want to get started now. I saw a documentary on Warren Buffet and he started learning about stocks when he was a little boy. I feel like I'm already old and need to start learning.
I'm a fast learner and willing to dedicate hours to learn.

I have skype with headset but, I sound like a girl on the microphone. Think of a mini justin bieber. This post isn't a joke if you want to mentor me I have proof i'm a freshmen in highschool.

What you will get out of mentoring me is being able to start with a fresh clean young sharp mind. By the time your done mentoring me and I graduate I will become a beastly trader. I can work for you and bring in millions of dollars.

If you know a professional trader at a prop desk,bb,hedge fund wherever I just want to learn from a good trader.
Be my Benjamin Graham

Even if it's only mentoring me 1 hour every day, anything!

Thanks for taking your time to read this!

The best thing you can do is to keep trading and getting good experience. Make sure, you keep your grades up above 93 because grades dictate what school you get into and thus your job prospects. I know that you don't need to go to a great school to trade, but going to a better school opens up more job opportunities and allows you to learn from the best later on in your career.

If you are serious about learning how to trade, you can not simply ask for a mentor. Mentorships are slowly grown overtime which is what makes the bond so strong. I suggest that you email/cold-call as any small trading firms that are near you and ask to work part-time/ unpaid internship. Say you are just looking to learn and that you'll be a real asset to the team, ect. Below is something that I wrote on a forum awhile back and relates to a sophomore looking for internships, but you can use it for your current situation and to prepare for further down the road. Most people start worrying about this sophomore year, you are way ahead of the curve...Congrats.

"""""Im a junior and I can tell you to only focus on extracurriculars where you have leadership positions. They come up in interviews a little, but its usually only in passing. Focus on business societies like investing or trading clubs-They will spend five-ten minutes on these and usually use them to jump into economy and market based questions to survey your interest and how much you keep up with the market.

As a sophomore, getting a summer internship shows initiative and is good. You should try for anything you can. PWM and Ops are the most likely, but you could look for something in research, corp. finance division in a F500 company. Depending where you are in the South, there maybe some trading firms. Cold Call-higher ups in a company and saying you WANT an unpaid internship, that your interested in finance and learning more about different opportunities (Say this no matter what, don't mention trading or another interest). They key sophomore year is to get something that "looks" like finance even if you only got coffee and made copies-you just need to be able to talk about and understand what your group did do that you can answer interview questions.

Starting NOW, go to your school's career services and look at the alumni database that lists alumni and where they work/what they do. Every college has one. You can use this to find an internship in the Summer, but use this to start networking for junior year. Make a well crafted email (three paragraphs, similar format to cover letter) First paragraph will always change depending on who you are emailing/what they do/you interests in what they do. Second paragraph stays the same and says your skills and what you have done to date. Third paragraph is closing...please contact me, thank you for time and consideration, ect... Ask for informational interviews (even if its an area that your not really interested in) You need to spread your net wide. I have also had an MD in one area forward my resume to his friend who was an MD in S&T and get me an interview. Talk about their experiences and what they have done. Why they like their job, whats the internship like, ect? Sine you want trading..the best way to network with traders and get them to like you is to talk about the market..ask their opinion, and while their talking show that you know what your talking about as well.......I have literally had 45 minute conversations with traders and after they hang up, get a text asking to "re-send" them your resume.

Good Luck!!

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

i dont think you guys are getting this right. this kid is 15. like freshman in HIGH SCHOOL 15.

If your family has a private banker, see if you can shadow him or her. If your family knows anyone in finance, there you go. thats it. otherwise, no one is going to look at you until maybe sophomore year of college

in the meantime, party. make some friends. unless the fed hints at a rise in interest rates and then you want to run home and short treasuries like no other.

I'm going to recommend you enjoy high school and make friends. This post almost made me wish I started that early, for about 10 seconds. Then I realized how much I would have regretted high school if I spent my entire time just learning about finance. Play sports, make friends, and read about finance when you have time. Seriously, don't piss away the time you have in high school to part and have fun. You'll be working your ass off before you know it.

Thanks for all the replies but I'm not really interested in doing well in school and getting a 4.0 GPA so i can spend my whole life working up a ladder. Of course there's always good books to read out there like New Market Wizards but I have a nice strategy right now and am more interested in further mastering it. I was just wondering if someone would be interested in taking time out of their day to chat with me and groom me possibly so in the future I can be more successful.

Agree with some of the other posts. Your main focus should be your grades because this determines a lot about your future.

With that said when you have free time, read anything you can get your hands on. Check out the link below for some book ideas.

Continue to trade. When you trade, don't make it robotic, learn about each trade. Why a trade was successful vs why it wasn't. What were the mistakes? What were the catalysts that moved the market you traded.

Lastly, enjoy high school, you only get it once!

Hi Corey,

Hi Corey,

My name is Nick Taylor-stoddard I my own money in S AND P futures I am based in the uk I cannot mentor you but I would be wiiling to communicate over email as long as you get pemission from your parents who confirm this to me via email or can speak to me direct on the phone.

I would be willing to share techinical analysis insights via emailed charts and talk to you about the markets in general answering any questions you may have.

I would for suggested reading to visit 3 websites www.harmonictrading.com,www.kanetrading.com, and finally www.iitm.com.

I have been trading for 11 years I am self taught and have 26 years experience of financial markets.

they cover all you will ever need to know about what it takes to succeed as a trader I can honestly tell you I have friends who worked for banks for years who were very samrt guys who did not know the stuff you will learn about on these sites.

I would suggest you also read as much on trading psychology this is the most key element of trading it does not matter what yu know or how smart you are if you cannot control yourself you will fail.

iitm is the world leader on trader psychology his name is Van Tharp I am sure you would have heard of him if not you have now.

I would also suggest you read all the 250 free articles on the other 2 sites I mentioned they will open your eyes to what you need to know to succeed its an ongoing process we are students of the market for life.

this is not a job its a lifestyle choice, when you feel you have read enough then my suggestion would be to purchase vol 1 and 2 or harmonic trader and jims package of 9 books contained within these books as I said is all you will ever need and you would not have to abandon what you have already in terms of analysis tools or trading startegies it will just expand your knowledge and tools that youhave at your disposal.

I hope this helps you and as I said as long as your parents agree I will communicate and help you as much as I can my email is [email protected].

Best Wishes

Nick Taylor-stoddard

Am I sick that I'm always rooting for the predator? Or should I have just kept that to myself?

Dude one of these episodes Chris Hansen is going to get stabbed in the face or he and the camera crew are going to be held hostage, either of which would make for great television and only add to the enjoyment that the show confers on me as i watch it

Word of advice for your finance career. Get as many girls as you can now. Shoot for 24 and older only, you want real women.

I can't stress this enough. (A) You won't have time when you're working (B) You'll master the most fundamental skill to making it big in this industry, making yourself look good by bullshitting and lying at somebody else's expense.

this is very good advice... if you can sell your c^ck you can sell anything.. women are a tough "counterparty" but if they hit your bid.. you will be fine in life
