LA and SF boutique investment banks
Hello guys,
So I am currently in the summer recruitment progress and went through 4 superdays already. However, one place already rejected me and I am afraid that other banks might, too ( hopefully not.)
Therefore, I was wondering if you guys know any boutique investment banks in either SF or LA that offer summer internship. I tried doing the regional boutique post but a lot of them are either obsolete or don't have any summer analyst program at all.
I so far have applied for the top boutiques (HLHZ, Jefferies, Moelis, PWP) already so I am looking for smaller boutiques suggestions.
Thanks a bunch.
boutiques don't have typical recruitment or SA positions. They do however usually need analyst support depending on deal flow and whats in their pipeline. I would just reach out via phone/email to anyone at the boutique and start fishing for an opening somewhere.
I know WFC (SF) and America's Growth Capital (Bay Area) are just starting to recruit. At my university resumes are due at the end of February, 1st round interviews are in March.
One of smaller boutiques contacted me via e-mail with just three questions: 1) Do you know that this internship is unpaid?; 2) What times are you available?; 3) Do you know that this internships involves a variety of duties?
So d52strick9 is definitely right
I can confirm they're starting, I just saw their internship posting on my career service's website today.
Yeah, AGC and WFC are recruiting at my school, too. I dont think either of those are investment banks though. May I shouldn't be too picky. I really want the pwp internship !! damn it
Nice, maybe we'll end up in same work place. What school do you go to? As far as prestige of those internships, in Russia we have proverb, "On a fishing lull, even a crayfish is fish," which means, "Something is better than nothing." Though in my opinion AGC and WFC are great opportunities and I'd definitely take them.
P.S.: Ivy League graduates, please don't bash in this post, if you only knew how hard it is for non-target schoolers...
AGC is an investment bank
lol i am from LA, but seriously though , something is better than nothing haha
yea, me,too. Thx for the advice guys. I appreciate it
I've been looking for something for a while in LA (preferably) or SF, but I'm most likely going to stay with my strategy internship through the summer because I haven't had much interest from any i-banks. I go to a semi-target outside of CA (CA native), have a 3.3 GPA, BB, PE, and strategy internships, lots of extras, and no interest. Le sigh. Anyone else wanting to vent, feel free to PM me. haha. Good luck, guys!!
speaking of AGC, I have an interview with them coming up. What should I expect?
That being said, I'm studying my ass off with all the tech. questions :D Good luck with AGC, hopefully we'll see each other this summer
there's a couple around LA...depending on what you're into..there's europlay capital advisors (sf valley), innovation capital (el segundo), and a bunch of pub fin inv banks like piper jaffray.
thanks. hopefully we do. you wouldnt happen to know how many interns they take for the summer usually?

As the latest Bear SA casualty, it's now time to focus on regional boutiques and middle markets. These are pulled from the sticky above, any of them worth taking a look at? I know Jeffries and Thomas Weisel are probably near the top of this list, but anyone else that stands out?

Good boutiques in DTLA, Santa Monica areas for first IB internship? (Originally Posted: 07/27/2014)
I will be a second year at UCLA this year. I have a 3.3, have had both Asset Management and PE internships so far, and was just wondering if you guys know of any smallish boutiques that are generally open to younger and less experienced interns. I have already heard of some like Covert & Co., Siemer, and a few others by searching and talking to friends. I was just wondering if there are some I should concentrate on due to more openness to sophomores. Thanks for any insight.
There are some places in Century City, like Moelis, Imperial Capital, Houlihan Lokey. In Santa Monica I only know of New Century Capital, but there could be more. Good luck, I need to start looking as well (I'm in the same situation),
Boutique Firms In SF? (Originally Posted: 04/05/2010)
I know there is an old thread of boutique investment banking firms in SF and I was wondering if anyone had an updated list? I figured I might as well do some cold calling now and hopefully land an interview somewhere (sophomore). Might as well, considering my backup will be making cold calls for a BB PWM.
I would greatly appreciate your help!
montgomery and co is pretty legit...
try the boutiques thread... someone posted a list of firms using cap IQ
It's Qatalyst or bust man.
Boutiques in LA? Who has Internship experience? (Originally Posted: 12/05/2012)
Been contacting some boutiques IBs in the LA area, was wondering if any of you monkeys have had past experience with any of them. Or if you guys can recommend any specific firms. I've reached out to several already, just looking for some input from people who know the layout well.
What are your qualifications, background, prior experience, etc?
