“I thought Brandon was great; he was very kind and easygoing, and was pretty passionate about his role as a mentor at WSO. He also gave me some great resources for asset management on the public side/ public works, as I was interested in endowment management and management for city funds, which is something I have always been interested in, so it was great to finally talk to someone in that area. I only have one very minor complaint is that he was a little bit late the meeting started 7:02 pm and not 7:00 pm but he was pretty chill so its all good.”

“Ben was helpful and candid throughout the session. What I appreciated most was that he did not simply encourage me to pursue IB without discussing the realities of the job. He gave me a very honest picture of analyst and associate life, including the hours, lack of control over your schedule, and the fact that junior bankers often have much less client interaction than students imagine. At the same time, he was very thoughtful about my specific situation as an international student and helped me think beyond a single recruiting path. His advice around London off-cycle opportunities, the HPI visa, internal transfers, corporate banking/credit as stepping stones, Big Four routes, and potentially using a one-year master’s program gave me several concrete alternatives I had not been evaluating seriously enough. I also found his own career story valuable because he did not follow a perfectly linear path into banking. Hearing how he moved from accounting into banking and eventually JPMorgan made his advice feel much more realistic and applicable to someone without the traditional target-school path. He was also very open about what he might have done differently himself, which I really appreciated. If I had one suggestion, it would be to spend the final few minutes turning all of the ideas discussed into an even more explicitly prioritized roadmap — for example, ranking the top 2–3 paths I should pursue first. We covered a lot of excellent options in 30 minutes, so a final hierarchy would have made an already very useful session even easier to act on. Overall, though, I left with a much clearer and more realistic understanding of both IB and the alternative routes available to me.”

“Michael provided very specific and actionable feedback on my TMAY and 7 stories. He helped me identify where my stories needed stronger concrete details, clearer emphasis on my individual actions, and more explicit takeaways. He also gave me a clear framework for improving my ethical, team conflict, team player, and hard worker stories, as well as guidance on strengths, weaknesses, and interview delivery. I left the session with a clear set of next steps and a much better understanding of how to make my stories more compelling in an interview. ”

“Discussed different career paths within trading, including alternatives to traditional trading desks and opportunities across various commodities. We focused particularly on power trading and how traders analyze supply, demand, weather, transmission constraints, and market dynamics to make trading decisions. The conversation helped me understand how different commodity markets operate and how the skill sets required can vary across trading strategies. It also broadened my perspective on potential career paths within the trading industry. ”

“Jeppe was extremely helpful and very efficient with the time we had. I came into the session with a lot of uncertainty around recruiting in London as an international student, especially around sponsorship, how competitive the process is, and whether I should be focusing on summer analyst roles or off-cycle opportunities. He answered those questions very directly and gave me a much clearer strategy. I especially appreciated that he explained which banks I should prioritize, how London recruiting differs from the US, how to position my motivation for London in cover letters, and where networking is actually worth my time. His advice about focusing on US-to-London movers when networking was particularly actionable. He also helped me understand that much of the preparation I have already been doing for US IB recruiting transfers directly to London, which was very reassuring. I left the call feeling significantly more confident about applying internationally and, more importantly, with concrete next steps rather than just general encouragement. He was straightforward, practical, and very generous with advice, and I would definitely book another session with him!”

“Just wrapped a ~2 hour mentoring session with Tim. It was genuinely one of the most useful conversations I've had in my job search so far. Tim was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge - he clearly knows the industry inside out. More importantly, he knows how to translate that knowledge into practical and actionable advice rather than vague platitudes. What stood out most was how personable and easy to talk to he was. He was warm and a willing to engage properly with my specific situation rather than giving cookie-cutter answers. He asked sharp questions, listened properly, and gave feedback that was honest without being discouraging. By the end of the call I had a much clearer sense of direction, concrete next steps, and, just as importantly, a lot more confidence going into applications and interviews. ”

He went in-depth on each part of how and why these answers should and could be changed, and gave a great framework to begin working on my own with the 7 stories, with very actionable takeaways. “The session started a little later than expected, but that was not a major issue for me. The mentor was polite and clearly knowledgeable in his field, so I have no concerns about his expertise or attitude. However, I did not feel that I received the level of value or depth I was expecting, especially since I specifically chose him as a Top Mentor. During the session, I felt that the advice remained quite general and that there was not enough focus on my individual situation. I would have appreciated a more detailed approach, more specific insights, and greater effort to understand exactly what I needed and guide me accordingly. The conversation was pleasant and professional, but it did not go into the level of detail that I had hoped for. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but unfortunately, I cannot say that I was fully satisfied or that the session met my expectations. ”

“Nimish was a great resource for IR interviews especially since he had interviewed with Ares recently and had good color on what the Ares, Oakhill, Carlyle, Liontree processes look like. Was also great to discuss his background with him as well and learn about his journey from NYC to Florida and back to NYC again, very inspiring. I think the case study he will send me will be super useful for my future prep. I think a point of feedback would be sometimes it felt like he was rambling a bit on responses or going on tangents but that's a small thing. ”

We spent time going through my resume in detail, discussing how I could improve the way I present my experiences and make certain points clearer and more impactful. “Rahul gave concrete, actionable advice rather than the usual "keep networking" line. Two things stood out. He suggested I start a Substack to build a public record of my investment thinking, which is a smart way to demonstrate conviction and writing ability to recruiters before I even get to interview. He also pointed me specifically towards defence start-ups, which makes real sense given my aerospace and defence exposure at IBM — it's a corner of the market where capital is moving quickly and genuine industry familiarity is scarce, so it turns my current experience into an edge rather than something I have to explain away. He knew the market well, was generous with his time, and clearly tailored the conversation to my background rather than giving stock answers. Would gladly speak with him again.”

Coming from Case Western, I wasn't a finance major, but WSO Academy was a game-changer. I went from sending 50 emails a month to 1,200 in two months using their automation tools. The mentors helped me totally nail interviews, even for restructuring, leading to my Morgan Stanley IB offer. Definitely worth it!
I got Spring Weeks at Goldman and PJT, then a middle market PE internship in NYC. Recruiting from Singapore was tough, but WSO mentors, especially Cindy, helped me figure out what I really wanted and how to prep for interviews that used to scare me.
Starting early was key. I began networking freshman year even when it felt awkward. My Aggie network was huge and mock interviews made me sharp. Lazard really cared about my behaviorals and who I was. Have a life outside studying... they want the whole you.
As an international student and former varsity soccer player, I started with a blank slate—no accounting class, no playbook. WSO’s structure and mentor network turned chaos into a plan. Repetitions on storytelling and case prep built the muscle I needed to push through rejections and ultimately earn my BCG offer.
I came in late, my resume was a mess, and I wasn’t sure I was ready. WSO Academy got me on track fast. They cleaned up my resume, drilled me on technicals, and helped me break into IB with a boutique, then land Wells Fargo. Super helpful mentors who really knew their stuff.
Breaking into finance as a liberal arts international student at Kenyon felt impossible. My resume was a mess, and I was totally lost. But WSO Academy swooped in... I ramped up networking like crazy (150+ calls!) and their mentors helped me nail my mocks. That preparation led to 3 superdays and my Morgan Stanley offer.
I was doing the work, but my interviews were still all over the place—my stories were rambly and I didn’t know what ‘good’ sounded like. The Academy mentors helped me tighten my story, sharpen my behaviorals, and drill live mocks so I could walk into interviews with a clear structure and confident delivery. Once I cleaned that up, everything clicked—and I landed my GS offer.
I joined WSO late, with only a couple of coffee chats done and not much finance experience. Getting my resume in shape, doing mocks early, and using the networking tools helped me get up to speed fast. I went from feeling behind to getting around 10 calls a week, and the Renewable Energy course was a game changer for my project finance interviews. By the end of February, I landed my offer.
As a Colby freshman, I had no direction despite wanting finance. WSO Academy gave me a detailed plan and framework. I was doing three to five calls daily and even visited NYC banks in person, which was a huge differentiator. They helped me land a private equity internship and Bank of America IBD.

I came into recruiting super late, well past the usual timelines, and I wasn’t part of any finance clubs. WSO Academy gave me a proven process and the mentorship I needed, from learning what restructuring even was to building an outreach strategy that landed me 50+ coffee chats. That preparation helped me break into Greenhill Restructuring in New York.
I started late, missed out on junior internship recruiting, and had to keep pushing through a lot of setbacks. WSO gave me the structure, feedback, and realistic prep I needed to improve fast. The mock interviews and mentor guidance were huge in helping me land a full-time offer in Energy Investment Banking at Scotiabank.
My first real interview was a wake-up call. I had one day’s notice, was completely scrambling, and walked out thinking I wasn’t ready for this process. Over winter break, I joined WSO and finally had structure, we rebuilt my story from scratch, tightened my answers so they sounded natural, and ran enough mock interviews that the technicals became second nature. Even when I had the flu during one of my Jefferies rounds, I still felt in control. I ended up getting the offer after the Superday and that confidence shift made all the difference.
I came to the U.S. at 15 and fought my way from a non-target school then got crushed in interviews and down to $800 in my account. I doubled down on prep with WSO Academy, and that’s what turned things around and got me into venture debt at Trinity Capital.
I started recruiting without really understanding how competitive the process was or how it actually worked. I went through rejection after rejection and a lot of ghosting, and it was honestly pretty disheartening. What WSO gave me was the technical knowledge I was missing and that gave me real confidence. Once I had that, interviews stopped being intimidating, and that’s when I landed my M&A Summer Analyst role at Rothschild & Co.
I knew I wanted real estate, but Academy helped me tell that story better. I talked to mentors like Teru and Nick, downloaded the modeling templates, and studied the macro stuff. It gave me a real edge in interviews. That’s how I ended up at Blackstone Real Estate full time.
I was super demotivated after club rejections. Fast forward after joining WSO, I sent 412 cold emails, getting 60 coffee chats thanks to them and my polished resume. I faced nine brutal first rounds and four superdays in one week, totally slammed! But Academy prepped me, leading to my BMO offer.
I built and exited companies, but when I decided to pivot into investment banking, I realized how much I didn’t know. I put my head down and grinded 200+ networking calls, late nights, constant reps but I needed to speak the language fluently. WSO helped me tighten my technicals, practice under pressure, and show up with confidence instead of hesitation.
