About the mentor

I have coached many people like you in their careers. I can help you:

  • Figure out what is it that you want to do professionally. How to choose your career and how to get there.
  • Break into finance (IB / PE) - I have several real-life technical and fit questions. Proprietary modelling exercises also provided
  • Understand what are your career goals and design a broader strategy to help you get there

I have been coaching & mentoring for 10 years already. I focus on providing training for breaking into finance (bulge-bracket IB & PE), and I have increasingly coached more young professionals and students in their careers from a holistic perspective to identify the right career path for them to be successful, both personally and professionally. I have coached a diverse range of people, from high school students to professionals with 6+ years of experience. Unemployed to top-PE professionals. US nationals, minorities, Europeans, Asians, first-generations...

I managed to join Barclays Investment Banking in London coming from a public, non-target university. Since then, I have helped many other students break into finance from a diverse set of backgrounds (non-target, minorities...). Later, I joined Pamplona Capital (a PE fund with $15bn of AUM) as the person responsible for Spain & Portugal (also received offers from other top-tier PE funds) - to find out that my true call was in entrepreneurship. As I always do, I have used my PE experience to help others get jobs at other top PEs and infra funds in both London and NY.

I have conducted 150+ job interviews & extended various offers (both in IB and PE) - so I know very well both sides of the table. I am part of the Fulbright admissions committee and also do admission interviews for Kellogg School of Management.

Now I am managing my own search fund - after securing initial capital from a group of 14 investors, and I am in the process of acquiring an SME to manage.

My Bios:

  • Currently Search Fund Managing Partner at Surca Capital
  • 5 years of BB IBD experience: 3 in London (Industrials Team), 2 in Madrid (Iberia Coverage)
  • Former Senior Associate at International PE (+$10bn AUM). EMEA Coverage
  • MBA at Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University)
  • Areas of expertise: Diversified industrials (logistics, transportation, automotive, capital goods, industry 4.0). Infrastructure (renewable portfolios, airports), tech (health tech, industry tech and fintech)
  • Excellent modelling skills, LBO analysis, Levfin and ECM
  • 9 years of experience mentoring selected students interested in finance

Reviews for this mentor

Working with my mentor has been a game-changer for me. Before, I found private equity negotiations confusing, but they made everything clear and straightforward. Their real-world examples made tough concepts easy to understand. I've learned so much from their patience and expertise. Thanks to him, I'm now more confident in my skills. I can't recommend him enough!

I had a great experience with my mentor. A great professional with several years of experience on the buy side in both Europe and the US. I had a specific request to prepare for a phone call with a CEO of a company that is operated by a PE firm I eventually would have an interview with. I had a video chat with the mentor the very next day after I made a request for help. The mentor provided me with valuable advice, identified the end goal of this particular call and gave a few good questions to ask and most importantly advised on what probably not to ask in order to keep my call compact and to the point. I am looking to keep working with him again for the actual interview preparation and career advice. I look forward to it.

He helped refine my stories, provided valuable feedback for my responses, and taught me a new approach to answering technical questions that bankers want to hear. First, he helped me pick out the most relevant stories to banking. Then he went above and beyond with the sessions and gave insightful feedback for each of my responses. Not only did he consider the response's content, but he also provided feedback for intangible aspects that I would have missed. Finally, for technicals, he taught me how to provide level 2 and level 3 answers and structured them in a way that would impress the bankers and differentiate me from other candidates.

I highly recommend anyone interested in IB opportunities seriously consider chatting with him. It is well worth the time and effort! Thank you for all the help thus far, and I look forward to our next meeting.

Super nice mock interview partner. Definitely worth the investment. He is very responsible, thoughtful and nice and know how to bring out the best of you. Also he is very technical. He has tested me on multiple really good technical questions when I thought I've already prepared well enough. Will definitely come back again.

I am very happy with how the resume turned out. He asked the right questions and was able to craft a more concise story for my target industry. In addition, he provided interview pointers and provided resources to keep up with industry trends.

Overall very happy with WSO and my reviewer's work, and would not hesitate to recommend to colleagues.

The review was great! I didn't even expect it to be so helpful. Using the new CV Version, I have got several invitations for an interview right away. The progress was slowed down because the companies put the positions on hold. But I stay very optimistic that I'll get the job I want.

Thanks a lot again.

He was super helpful in our sessions. Besides the areas/questions I wanted to focus on, he went above and beyond and prepared me for what he thought was important too. He was also quick in identifying what was missing in my prep and pushed me to think from buy-side perspectives. Above all, he was super nice, encouraging and easy to talk to.
