About the mentor

Juan Carlos Lascurain-Grosvenor is a principal investor and cross-border deal originator with over a decade of transactional experience across emerging and frontier markets. He leads Grosvenor Square Consulting Group, an international advisory practice active in commodity trade finance, private credit, energy, and real assets across the Gulf, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

His transactional work spans multiple verticals simultaneously. On the trade finance and private credit side, he structures and intermediates petroleum import and export facilities — including staged facilities in the $10–30M range — secured against pre-sold inventory, benchmarked against Argus and Platts, and governed under Florida law with LCIA London arbitration. He has led the sourcing of $140M in physical agricultural commodities for a major global food manufacturing group, and structured fuel trading and distribution mandates in partnership with a global alternative asset manager.

On the capital formation side, he advises GP sponsors on fund architecture, placement strategy, and fee and carry structuring; brokers introductions to sovereign wealth funds, commodity-focused private equity, trade finance lenders, and Gulf-based family offices; and leads capital raise and market access mandates for luxury and ultra-premium hospitality developments in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East — with active mandates aggregating in excess of $200M, including an ongoing engagement with a leading international hotel management brand.

Juan Carlos holds a Diploma in Private Equity from SDA Bocconi and has completed executive programmes in international taxation (Universiteit Leiden), diplomacy (University of London), banking (University of Illinois), monetary policy (HKUST), and negotiation (Goldman Sachs and ESSEC). He is a Knight of Honor in a Royal Order of the Netherlands and a member of a distinguished financial institution in the City of London. His geopolitical and market analysis has been published in Forbes, The Epoch Times, Washington Examiner, and Benzinga/Yahoo Finance, and he was recognised by XO Leaders US as one of the most influential businessmen of 2023.

He mentors at all career levels — undergraduate through senior lateral — across deal structuring and origination, private equity fund formation, capital raise and brokerage, emerging and frontier markets navigation, and building an institutional-quality professional profile.
