Dear all, I've had two offerings for my first position, had an internship in a mid-market CF boutique and a mid-market PE firm in the Netherlands. I've graduated for two majors, one in Business law and one in Financial management. My ambition is to work in PE in 5 years from now. My technical skills from my commercial skills, feedback that I have been given was: or further develop your commercial strength's, or strengthen your weakness by having a 2-3 year "technical drilling session" at an investment bank. Second choice would be harder, but could transform me in a much better professional

Anybody have thoughts on what would likely be asked in an Acquisition finance interview? From what i've gathered, it's different from the bank's LevFin group but there is some overlap between the group. My thoughts on how to best prepare : basic I-banking interview questions with some emphasis on credit analysis, possibly LBO questions. thanks

I am applying for undergrad schools and have been selecting economics as my declared major. If I want to work in M&A or more generally, IB, should I select econ or finance? I intend for VC to be my exit strategy. I know I will have comments saying I am too young to sell myself away to one of the aforementioned careers, but I know what I'm capable of achieving. Thanks for any and all advice.

I'm a rising sophomore in college, currently interning at a small private equity fund. For next summer, I'm trying to do IB and think Lev Fin and Financial Sponsors could be a good fit. I've been doing some research and it seems like the Acquisition Finance team at Mizuho covers both Leveraged Finance and Financial Sponsors, so I think it could be a great learning opportunity. However, there isn't much information on the web about this group other than the description of what they do. I've searched around and could only find opinion's on Mizuho entire US IBD or info on other groups, like CFAS

Both these positions are at an investment bank. Can anyone help me figure out exactly what corporate finance advisory does (other than the description on JPM's website)? And is acquisition finance just another way of saying M&A? Sorry for the noob questions. I don't think I've ever posted on the IB forum before.

Congrats to the Georgetown team! They came out ahead, beating Harvard and Columbia in the final case competition hosted in London this year. Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate A team of graduate students from the Real Estate master's program at the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies recently won the top prize in MIT's 2014 CASE Competition. This annual competition, hosted and organized by the Alumni Association of the MIT Center for Real Estate (AACRE), challenges teams to analyze a complex real-world development site.

Suppose i'm reading up on a possible acquisition of company A by company B. Company A is trading at $40 and an acquisition deal has been announced. The deal closes in six months at $45 per share and I currently long 100 shares of company A. Assuming the deal doesn't happen, what can I expect my spot price to be six months from now?
