Hey monkeys, seems to be a severe lack of talk about growth equity on this forum. Was wondering if yall could shed some light on the growth equity landscape (ie. what are the top firms? how are traditional PE firms growth arms viewed in comparison? how many spots do these groups take? do they have analyst spots or only associate? do people commonly transition from IB into GE? PE into GE? if so what groups in IB/PE are good for doing so? what headhunters do these firms use? average comp compared to IB/PE? what is work like at analyst level? what is work like at associate level?) I've never seen

Wanted to make a thread for BX SA 2021 as I didn't see any other posts on it. Not sure how different the timelines are for BREDS, BREIT, and BREPE. Received first round over zoom for this week.

Wow does this forum brings back memories! WallStreetOasis was a welcome discovery my freshmen year in college and I checked it religiously back then - trying to gauge the relative prestige and status of different firms and sucking in all the hilarious and offensive terminology along with it. Honestly WSO was probably the thing (other than the school I was at) that first made me really think about finance. It guided what I knew about the right way to do things (along with the Vault rankings of course); what I knew about interviews - banking culture - exit ops - everything haha. Anyway, my story

Diversity recruiting has been the subject of several posts over the last few weeks. Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. As new opportunities continue to be created, I plan to update this list. diversity investment bank programs The opportunities are separated into two buckets: introductory programs and internship opportunities. Hey everyone, Can someone confirm this? I have been hearing this story all summer. Apparently a Goldman and Blackstone SA urinated on a Nomura intern when he was passed out outside of a Mayfair club in London this summer. Can someone confirm this pls? I am afraid of going to a lesser BB or MM bank for the summer if this is the case.

Just starting out here and I'm thinking about recruiting for credit funds next year. What are some of the leading firms, and why do people think they're great? I've heard these names a lot but don't know much about them... was originally sold on private equity and so don't know much about what makes each credit fund special. What do they tell LPs about their "secret sauce" and how true is it? * Anchorage Capital Group * Apollo Global Management * Bain Capital Credit * Canyon Partners * CQS * Davidson Kempner * D. E. Since I haven't seen any discussions on this topic, I thought I would start it. Obviously, the positions at BX are competitive, it would still be interesting to see where others are in the process.

Mod Note (Andy) - as the year comes to an end we're reposting the top discussions from 2015, this one ranks #33 and was originally posted 6/9/2015. I've been searching info about these guys for a while now. There are few threads on WSO with some insight, but still pretty limited; best source currently is their website. I came across some good 2015 overview (focus on Europe) recently that I wanted to share here. I can provide dates for specific numbers on request. I'd like to use this thread as an invite for other monkeys with more valuable info, so please feel free to chime in. Firstly, a

Hi chimps, Penultimate that just scored a first round interview at Blackstone. Non-target but I'm from a top Scandinavian school with good academic results (got the interview through referral). No experience with PERE, any advice on how to nail this interview? I'm interviewing with a couple of analysts in ~ 1 week. Anyone previous summer analysts in the forum with advice on the process?

Whenever I was asked this question, I never gave a bullshit answer. I said that obviously the hours aren't a pro of working in this industry, but its not something that i necessarily mind and it will help me learn a lot. I also brought up my student loan debt and that I really wanted to pay it off. Interested to hear other perspectives on this.

Hey Folks, I was lucky enough to land an interview with Blackstone Tactical Opportunities (BTO or Tac Opps). Their first round interview is a "case interview." I've never done any case prep for consulting + don't know how BTO's version would differ from a classic consulting case. I assume it has more of an investing angle, where you make the buy / pass call on a potential investment after being told to consider a company / industry. Would love some direction in understanding how to prep + what BTO may be looking for in a case interviewee

I'm lucky enough to have Full-Time Analyst offers for Investment Banking from both Evercore NYC M&A and PJT NYC M&A. I know I'm splitting hairs here but I'm just wondering if any of you have thoughts if one firm is slightly better positioned in terms of exit opportunities into PE mega-funds (Apollo, Blackstone, Warburg, KKR, TPG, Bain, Carlyle) as well as top MBA programs (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton)? Appreciate any insight!

As requested by @MBAGrad2015" in my previous post (about GSO) and several other users who pm-ed me about BAAM, I decided to start another "demystifying" thread - the Blackstone's 2014 Hedge Fund Solutions (BAAM) overview. All is based on few recent presentations that I was able to gather. Again, I'd like to use this thread as an invite for other monkeys with more valuable info, so please feel free to chime in. Hope some of you guys find this useful. Don't forget to check the attachments. BX PRINCIPAL INVESTMENT BUSINESS - Largest discretionary allocator to HFs in the world + over $20 bn larger

What is the job like for pre-mba analysts/associates at the above mentioned firms? I assume they are doing a lot of modeling as well as some sourcing and due diligence? I've looked at the backgrounds of many pre-mba employees on linkedin and they seem to share similar backgrounds to folks at UMM or MF PE i.e. top undergrad straight to firm or some combination of 2 years banking and/or consulting. Is getting a job at Growth Equity firm such as GA ,TPG, BX etc. just as hard as breaking into their PE groups? What is the pay like at these growth equity firms compared to PE firms? I assume it's

Does anyone have any idea on what kind of backgrounds they usually look for in their summer intern hires? How do they screen CVs? Did a quick search on Linkedin and seems like many were Europeans with several off-cycle internships under their belt already. Any disadvantage coming from a UK semi-target?

Hi All, I'm new to this site, but wanted to get commentary from likeminded people about whether or not to pursue an MBA. My rule of thumb is that it's only worth consideration from a T-20 program, especially if an employer or grants aren't paying for it. Yet, with a six-figure price tag will it really make or break your career? I'm of the opinion that there's a surplus of MBAs out there. The cost will go up since foreign students paying international tuition rates are becoming less intrigued by the prospects of studying/living/working in the U.S. Given recent wage inflation, I wouldn't be

Was wondering if anyone had any information on the full time recruiting process at MF's (BX, KKR, Apollo, TPG, Warburg, etc.) for undergrad students. I'll be at a top EB for my SA stint and, though I will most likely stay for FT, I figured I might as well at least try for a few MF's now since it might give me a leg up come associate recruiting. Any advice on how the recruiting process is structured and on how to do well in any coffee chats/interviews is appreciated. Thanks.

Was looking on linkedin and saw that Blackstone is offering an internship for their credit team: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/2022-summer-an… obviously it's difficult to judge from just a LinkedIn posting, but I belive this is the first year they are taking interns for the credit division. Would this be a good place to start if you wanted to exit potentially to a credit hedge fund? Would it be better to start here or a more typical

Hi gang, Im curious if you guys can give me color on BX's fairly new Blackstone Insurance Solutions group. I can't find anything online as to real, useful info on the group as to what they do exactly(other than creating investments for insurers through the BX platform) and which products/asset classes they specialize in investing in. Hi All, I'm an MBA student at Stanford organizing AMAs on Zoom with three classmates of mine who are former bankers and PE rockstars. We'll set up a video conference for you to ask them any questions you have, whether they are about breaking into banking, working at top PE funds, getting into a top MBA program, or anything else. If you are interested in joining the AMAs, please email me at [email protected] and tell me which panelist your most interested in connecting with. Please also throw some bananas at this post or comment on it so people see it. We will only move forward with the Q&A

I'm interviewing for a job with Blackstone TacOpps next month. Does anybody have any info on what they're doing or what an interview with them might look like? Are they a good group? What is Blackstone Tactical Opportunities? Blackstone Tactical Opportunities was created as an opportunity to invest in 'alternative assets'. They pursue investments in areas, for example, real estate, not normally pursued by other Blackstone Divisions. It works across their different business units, drawing from the many networks and intellectual capital of Blackstone Group. Essentially they invest in non

Take note, monkeys: if you ever actually "make it" in this business, this is how you want to sound in an interview. The word indefatigable comes to mind as he laughs off the factors that give everyone else on Wall Street ulcers. He calls himself "irrelevant" in the context of the juggernaut he founded. He manages to find the positive in everything. And he insists on ethical behavior at every level. This is a great interview.

Hi Monkeys, Long time lurker here. Decided to create an account because I am eager to learn more about the large private equity firm opportunities and recruiting in the Middle East, in particular Dubai. Have seen limited information about the topic. I know some shops like KKR, Carlyle, and Blackstone have offices there. How large are they? How does the experience compare to London / New York? How is compensation? Also interested to know about the private equity recruiting cycle and practices there. Do they poach second year IB analysts from banks in the region? Do they take more experienced hires? Would they look to hire someone that has been working outside of the region / not Middle Eastern? Would appreciate any insight!

Hi all, Could anyone give me some insights on Blackstone's tactical opportunities team in London? (recent deals, culture, working hours, asset class focus (an estimated % breakdown would be nice)). Their mandate seems to be pretty loose ... from what I understand they pretty much invest in any asset class, geography and industry with a focus on "special" / distresses situations. Cheers

So it seems the megafunds have set a new early record for the recruiting cycle, kicking it off last week. It's my understanding that the megafunds (i.e. KKR, Blackstone, TPG, Carlyle) as well as some other large PE funds are pretty much done recruiting already. Does that mean the middle market ones will start in a week or two, and all PE recruiting for 2012 start dates will be done by end of March? Thoughts?

Now that Evercore's M&A NYC Analyst class is getting bigger (~50 Analysts) and they are placing Analysts into groups earlier - I was wondering what the top groups at Evercore are considered to be? I'm interested from a deal flow perspective, prestige perspective, and best exit opportunities into PE mega-funds (Blackstone, Apollo, KKR, Warburg, Carlyle, Bain, TPG). Specifically for NYC and specifically for M&A.
