Want the SparkNotes? We got "banker speak" for nothing. But you don't need a SparkNotes because it was only a whole 30 seconds or so on an hour-long call. Senior Leadership on Junior Banker CIB-wide call: "We saw the materials and saw the forum" - nice, I would hope so. "We're exploring resources and solutions" - as you said you have been for months on end now… and as you SHOULD be at all times… without a deck or forum or having to tell me lol. "We've set a net zero emissions target for 2050" - sick bro. So what value did any junior bankers at WF pick up from the call? Please chime in because

I know this program appears to be still accepting applications, but does anyone know will there be any changes to the program (postpone, virtual, etc.)? Also, if anyone hear back from Citi or get accepted, here could be a place to share the news. Thanks a lot and stay healthy!!!

Citi sophomore leadership applications opened up a few days ago. Figured I would make a thread since I have not seen one. I submitted the application and the assessment following it. Does anyone know what the recruiting timeline looks like/have already heard back?

Diversity recruiting has been the subject of several posts over the last few weeks. Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. As new opportunities continue to be created, I plan to update this list. diversity investment bank programs The opportunities are separated into two buckets: introductory programs and internship opportunities. Which banks crushed it? Which flopped? My $0.02 below. Total global M&A deal value grew by 92.5% year-over-year for Q1 2021. Ergo a bank that grew M&A deal value by less than this LOST market share year-over-year and a bank that grew more than this GAINED market share y-o-y. Source: https://markets.ft.com/data/league-tables/tables-… Market Share Gainers Jefferies: Made the Top 10 for global M&A deal value and grew global M&A deal value by over 800% y-o-y. Hats off. Not sure if they had a bad Q12020 or amazing Q12021 - probably both. Barclays: After getting

Have Silver Bananas for helpful comments. Incoming SA at a "mid-tier" BB in NYC in what's considered a "top group" on this forum. Think: Bank of America (Lev Fin, M&A, Sponsors) Barclays (Nat Res, P&U, Sponsors) Citigroup (Industrials, M&A) Credit Suisse (M&A, Sponsors) Would like to either stay in banking with a strong team or leave for MF PE / HF (like every other SA on this forum). Top target background. Trying to switch banks for FT seems risky to me. There's tons of posts on this forum about how small Wall Street is and even though it seems likely I will get a return offer, I don't want

Citi's FIG group recently came to campus, and it is said that their FIG group is pretty good on the Street, like considered better than their general IBD department. I am wondering if that is the case, and what the exit ops look like? Got a FIG offer for the summer. Was wondering about this since there were next to no recent threads on Citi's IBD, nor FIG group in particular. Thanks!

Congratulations, Citi. One year into the pandemic, you've finally started giving your juniors what every other bank (ex. GS) is giving, a WFH dinner stipend. I don't know why I was so naive as to expect you to do it properly though. No pickup, seriously? So I can't get food from a place that's down the block from my apartment. Every analyst has to have food delivered to them, and spend a third of the amount on service fee + delivery fee + tip? So you're finally giving the stipend, but want to make sure that analysts are glued to their seats if they want to get it? You fought tooth and nail not

Citi is combining the chemicals, energy, and power group under current energy global head Steve Trauber. IIRC, this follows a similar move from Credit Suisse last summer. https://www.crainsnewyork.com/finance/citi-create…

Sometimes I found job posts which show both NY and London in location, like this one from Citi: https://citi.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/2/job/Ne…. The same happens in other banks as well. I guess it means it will only hire one either in NY or London and I need to compete with candidates not just in London (for working in London) but also those in NY (for working in NY)? I thought they serve very different markets so I don't see why one can be a substitute of another. And in this case, candidates in NY get

Hi WSO, I recently receive these two offers. Offer 1:Deloitte Consulting (Analytics & Information Management) Offer 2:Citibank Strategic Planning Assistant (Consumer Banking Contractor with chance to convert to FT analyst) The job in Citi would be assisting with planning for credit card operational strategy in consumer banking+compute interest rate and payment related work. My ultimate goal is to either lateral to MBB or get into top MBA schools, preferably after working for 2-4 years, and my interest is business strategy. Which one should I go for to get closer to a real"strategy role" and

Hi all, Anybody out there have some insight into the different groups for Citi Capital Markets Origination? I've read on this site and other about LevFin and DCM/ECM being better options in terms of breadth of knowledge and exit opps, but honestly can't find more detailed info than that. Someone I spoke to recently mentioned some groups are more modeling intensive than others - seems odd given that everything else I've heard indicates that CMO in general doesn't do much modeling, if any. Wondering if anyone has some more insight here - do any groups model in CMO? What are some high level

Hi WSO monkeys I got an offer to join Citi in London. Which are the best teams in terms of dealflow within the bank? I saw several articles speaking about Industrials in the US being strong, is that the case for London? Any views on Power&Utilities? Thanks!

This is my first post at WSO after being a spectator and admirer for a long time. Now that I have gotten an offer from a BB (Citi) in NYC for a SA position in the PB, I can finally ask my question and get some insight from you all. So I got the offer for Summer '22 (a really good one, too) and I am currently in the process for recruiting with JPM in their AWM Division - specifically in Asset Management Products and wanted to know which opportunity is better and which will give me the better chances of staying and getting a return offer to stay FT out of the two. Also, I would like to know what

Hi monkeys, Earlier today I found out that I was selected for an on-campus interview with Citi for their 2020 Corporate Banking Summer Analyst position. While I'm quite excited since it will be my first financial services interview (excluding dozens of networking calls with alumni and recruiting events). With this in mind, I want to make sure that I do eveything I can to properly prepare. Any general advice and/or tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I recently interviewed at the Citi Commodities Analyst program. It has been 2 weeks already and I haven't heard anything back. Did anyone else already interviewed for this position before? Definitely would like to hear your thoughts or share any intelligence.

I got an offer for Citi IB SA and I was curious to hear what the consensus was about Exit Opps and Reputation for some of its groups. I am interested in Media & Comms, M&A, and Industrials, but wanted to hear what other people think. I know for M&C it's not as strong as the boutiques that do it like EVR, PWP, and PJT, but are the exits still decent? I'm pretty interesting in the space. Will I get real deal experience or do they do more Debt Financings and Equity Offerings? M&A I'm guessing does well across the board but is probably pretty competitive. I've heard good things about Industrials

I have an offer for Citi's 2019 CMO program, and received a Superday invite to S&T at Goldman. What are pros/cons of each, and which would you suggest I take? The Citi offer expires before the S&T Superday, and I'm not sure yet if I can move my Superday earlier. I know Goldman has a better brand name, but I'm not sure if in general it is worth that much more. I'm trying to move into IBD full time-would either give me a better chance?

Hi, I have a superday for Citi in Houston (the global energy group) this week. I am wondering how much I should know about O&G. It is not my area of expertise, so I'm trying to read up on it as much as I can before it. If anyone has any tips or knowledge of what the interview entails AT ALL, or anything I should know related to oil and gas, please let me know!!! Thanks!

Any news from Citi HR regards to the Risk Rotation Program? Citi has a history with super day, so my guess is that Super day is next in line.

Wondering if other divisions or groups have more detail on the situation for the summer. Only a series of questionnaires were sent out so far. Possibility for hybrid in July? Also any current Citi analysts would like to hear your progress on return to office -- thanks. For NYC

What does everyone here think this will mean for the 2020 SAs? The guarantee was made of an offer subject to "minimum requirements", and Citi are probably looking long term wrt this, so would assume it would have no effect. Would be interesting to know opinions on here though.

Hey WSO (first post btw), Rising sophomore at a target here, planning on applying for this Citi program. Wondering if networking plays any role in the selection process. I know the program mostly takes diversity candidates and I'm not one, so I'm hoping a combination of strong resumé/GPA and networking could be enough to finesse a spot. Spoke to an IBD analyst there who wasn't too familiar with the program and unsure if referrals are a factor. If any past applicants/participants could shed some light that'd be great. Cheers. P.S. This forum has been super helpful in getting a sense for the

Hey guys, I'm wondering if bulge bracket banks have been still requesting drug tests for the interns whose internships became virtual? Not just in NY but Houston, Chicago, SF info is appreciated. I already heard that they cant test for THC in drug tests in NY anymore, so I don't need NY info. Info on bank's policies going into this summer in the other locations is much appreciated. Thanks in advance, I'm just trying to chief before my internship because I'm bored.

If you were given offers for these summer internships, which one would you choose and why? (With Citi converting around 80% of interns and Morgan Stanley converting 50% to grad offers).

Hi everyone, I have an upcoming interview for an analyst position at Citi's Financial Strategy Group and I am not sure I understand exactly where they stand within the Investment Banking department. I'd like to have your insight on: 1. What do they exactly do? How do they generate business (if any) for the bank? 2. What's the profile/background of people working there? 3. How does it compare to analyst positions in other more traditional IB groups such as M&A? (daily work, pitching vs. deal execution, modeling, working hours, etc.) 4. What are the exit opportunities? 5. What to expect in terms of the interviewing process (i.e. technical questions, case studies, etc.)? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. L.

Hey guys, I was reading up on different groups under firms and their institutional groups, and I was wondering, as someone new to the world of finance, what life is like in this field at a BB. Is markets and securities the same as sales and trading? How are the hours compared to normal IB? What's the salary like? In general, what's the difference between a "Markets Analyst" and an "Investment Banking Analyst"? Sorry for my noobishness. Cheers.

Both are in NY. I know they are not that different so probably it all comes down to culture. Really like the junior people at CS but not the MDs I've talked to. On the other hand, I like the senior people I talked to at Citi. Does anyone know what's the percentage of SA offers turning into FT at both banks? Also, any thoughts in terms of what to consider when picking the offer? Thanks lots!

FrontPage of the WSJ. Article says nobody saw this coming. His resignation is effective immediately. Wtf? Mod Note (Andy): See these related threads: "Pandit's Legacy"
"Pandit Leaving was about Money" [quote] It was a boardroom coup, I went to high school with the son of the member of the board and was able to speak to him for a little while earlier today. He said that the board and Pandit had opposite views on the future of the company and neither wanted to budge. Basically Corbat had more backing and shared the views of a majority of the board on the future of Citigroup.

Hey all. I just got notified of 2 offers I have for a summer analyst position at Citi and Evercore. Which would you guys take for a summer analyst role? Obviously, summer analyst leads to FT offer, so this is almost like deciding where to go for FT. Which one has better exit opps after banking? Which one would you guys choose?

I got general offers recently from Barclays Capital, UBS, and Citigroup, all in NYC. Group placement won't happen until next year. UBS may be able to give me a group earlier. Which BB would you pick? I liked the people I met at all these banks...I don't have much time to decide... I want to exit to PE 2-3 years down the road.
