I am a frequent poster but using a throw away account to remain anonymous Here's my story... I graduated last year with 3.2 Cumulative GPA, 3.7 Finance GPA and also a honor in economics from a non-target and no job lined up to pay bills. I actually did 4 internships during school year (PWM, Fixed Income Research at a small shop, M&A advisor at a 2 person shop, and financial analyst at a local firm) and received a return offer from the boutique advisor but I declined, because most of the time I was building their salesforce industry database. I was also feeling confident that I would be able to

I've been accepted to both these schools for an MSF, I held off on choosing between the two because I was waiting on my 1st choice school (UT). I just got rejected from there so it's come down to these two. SMU had an 86% placement rate last year and the 2015 class has placements at American Airlines, Wells Fargo corp fin, GS IB, UBS IB, Stephens ER, and some local AM funds. Villanova's placements are well known on this site. From my perspective SMU seems to have more name brand firms whereas Nova has more banking/AM placements. I prefer Texas but would be willing to go to the east coast for

Hi guys, I'm planning on applying to MSF programs and want to know what my chances are at a top program. I'm interested in: -Vanderbilt -Texas -WashU(CF track) -NOVA -Boston college -OSU Probably in that order in terms of preference. My top goal first year out the program is Investment banking, but I'd be happy with a good corporate finance job if I can't get into IB. Correct me if I'm wrong but all of the schools above place in IB fairly well. What are my chances of getting into these schools? -3.4 GPA, BBA in ECON (non-target, large public school) -GMAT 660-680 (realistic expectation, but

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I am interested to pursue MSF this year. My main aim is to break into IB. ( location is not a concern, fee is however a major concern, I am from India). I have been admitted to the MSF at Purdue( no schol) and SMU( with a schol of 5k). Got rejected by Vandy. waiting to hear from USC and UT Austin. I am a bit skeptical about their results. I have a GRE of 322( 170 q, 152 v) and a GPA of 3.9 from IIT and an irrelevant work experience ( Manager in a Public Sector bank in India) of 1.8 years. Cleared CFA Level 1. I really want admission to the best college so that post study job opportunities wont be a problem, particularly because of the Visa sponsorship.

My profile: 3.6 GPA non target(accounting major) 770 GMAT (Second attempt) 3 months of non profit experience, no IBD or anything Was awarded scholarship by my undergrad institute Some other achievements My goals: Breaking into investment research or IBD(US) And I want to commit and devote the year to improving my personality and developing soft skills during the program(participate in as many activities as I can) So do you think my profile is competitive enough? Also, I'm considering duke MMS just because I think they have the tools and right programs that I can use to develop solid soft skills. I'm not concerned so much about recruitment at duke because I know I'll get a job no matter, I'm a networking geek. So I'm only interested in the activities and social network there.

I'm thinking about applying to one of them later this year. I'm an international applicant and my goal is IB and I know that it's going to be hard to get there... So my plan is to start out at big 4 tas or consulting and transition to IB from there. My question is which program should I apply to? I can't decide because their MPA is a safe program(placements wise)and I might not get a job with MSF in big 4 if can't break into IB.

So guys, I've made up my mind and I will be applying this year to CMC MFin for class of 2017. I want to work in SF/San Jose, Silicon Valley. My question is that is CMC that good enough to get me there? Are there any banks coming all the way from the north to recruit on campus? How is CMC viewed in northern Cali? Last question, is it even possible?

Hello everyone, I'm new here (obviously) and needed a little help to figure out where I stand with regards to the probability of getting into a (pretty good) MSF program. Obviously every situation is different, which is why I am here; I've been lurking and it seems like you guys have a wealth of knowledge regarding this subjects. I apologize if I'm in the wrong place.
