Hey guys, Trying to get insight into solving the interview question below. How does one go about solving it? Thanks for the help! After a having expensed in past periods an estimated $5,000,000 in research and development for a new product, the Widget Company is faced with the decision of whether to invest a total of $1,500,000 in a large-scale initial promotional and advertising campaign to bring the product to market. The campaign will be conducted over a six-month period and all costs will be expensed in the current year. If ABC decides to go ahead with the campaign, it estimates that

By way of background, I've been working at as an analyst at a generalist "no name" IB for a couple years and have started to get serious about either moving on upstream to a bigger IB or to LMM PE. Obviously going to a different (better) IB would be "easier" but I am getting some traction in my PE recruiting through referrals and relationships. I'm still not likely to have a lot of PE opportunities so I want to make the most of it. The question "what industries should we invest in?" / "what industries would you invest in?" I'm not quite sure what a good answer is. Seems like a "no real wrong

I can't believe it's true, but I am already hearing a few rumblings / rumors from some of my PE contacts that private equity recruiting will be VERY early again this year. In other words, February again, only 11 days away...it would be nice for you guys & gals if it started in March, but I'm not counting on it given the game theory nature of PE recruiting. With that in mind, I wanted to let you all know that we are hard at work on Version 2.0 of the private equity interview Prep Pack (those of you that already bought can e-mail [email protected] your username so she can get you access to

Hey guys, wanted to get some advice on what I should expect for an interview for FP&A / Corporate at a big international PE firm, NY office. Most interviews I've been in are for ER so they've been more technical questions on WACC, DCF, etc.... This is my first interview for a corporate Analyst and I don't know what to expect. This is an entry level position. The description is below: Job Description: - Prepare and run reports - Quarterly and monthly financial reports and reconciliations, budget and forecast controls - Analysis of trends of revenue, capex, expenses, key performance indicators

Hello all - I have a final round coming up for an infrastructure fund focused on telecom, airports, roads. I have read a lot of posts on modeling type of case studies and am comfortable with those, but can someone provide tips or general idea of how more on-the-spot type of case questions would like? I'm currently guessing market sizing type of questions or modelling approach? I frankly have no project finance experience, just TMT experience for the most part, so any tips / pointers would be appreciated. Thank you!

What is "Cash Generation"? Is that FCF? Question for context: "Equity Purchase price of company is estimated at US$30 million, of which US$10 million is to be funded with cash generation and the balance with debt. Assume last year the company had $50M in Assets, $40M in Liabilities and $3M in cash generation"

I have been interviewing at a firm for a few weeks now and have had video interviews with ~10 separate people. I was just informed that the next step is to take an in-person psychometric assessment at the firm's office and meet the head of the group. I was originally scheduled for a video call with the group head (had a last minute conflict), before there was any mention of the psychometric test. Any insight into the amount of weight PE firms / banks place on these tests? In other words, is the test most likely just a "CYA" or might it have a sizable impact on whether I am extended an offer

I have an upcoming interview with the CDC Group (http://www.cdcgroup.com/) Any thoughts on what I should expect? (Outside of the regular walk me through resume type Qs) I assume it will be tailored to impact investing - anyone done an interview with IFC? Would assume it would be similar

Hey guys, I recently received an interview at a emerging markets hybrid private equity / hedge fund firm for an internship and wondering if anyone knew what the interview process will be like. For background, I have done an investment banking internship at a EB in New York and will be returning full time but wanted to get some experience at a hedge fund / private equity firm. Does anyone know if the interview will be a standard resume review or more technical in asking me about my interest in emerging markets? Thanks.
