I went through 3 rounds of interviews for a quantitative research intern role. Half of the interviews tested econometrics, mean-variance optimization (since I had a finance degree) and python coding. The other half were behavioral questions surrounding my projects in machine learning and statistical modeling. General atmosphere was amicable and interviewers are interested in learning about you, your purpose, and your backgrounds. Turnabout is around 2-3 week per round. It is also an assessment of fit for team-matching purpose since you will probably end up working with one of the interviewers.
