Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Amazon interviews are typically two rounds of 1:1 with a phone screen and then a superday on site before COVID. The rounds in the super day depend on the level for the position (L6 have 6 interviews) and included is the dreaded "bar raiser." Amazon's questions are very different from any other company. Be prepared to spend a brief amount on your resume/experience and mostly on how you exhibit their leadership principles. The best advice is to turn your answers into a story and emphasize that you (ie, "I did this..") made a contribution to the situation that exhibited the principle. Practice yourself recounting stories through the STAR method. Have about 2-3 examples per principle and practice, practice, practice. Most applicants aren't used to the way the interviews are structured so struggle through them in the beginning. It will take time and practice. Be prepared with "tell me about your resume", "why do you want this job" and then ready to recount examples of the principles. The questioners will poke and pry as they're supposed to. Don't be alarm, just work on getting the details correctly and think big. All your examples shouldn't come from the same company- spread them out. Over-preparation is the key to success here as the company (and thus interview process) are like no other environment you've likely been in before.
