Interview
Most funds interviewed for MBA internships during January of spring semester of the first year. First rounds were on campus in 30 minute blocks with one representative from the fund. Had 1-2 second round phone interviews with other investment staff before being assigned a case study, which I presented to 3 members of the investment team in the office.
Interview Questions
Had a very long a convoluted discussion regarding how to assign a proper risk premium to a corporate bond. Discussed comparing to current treasury yields, default rates, loss assumptions given default, and how to wrap all of the above into a yield I'd want to pay.
Most of the interviews focused on my own investment ideas. Had very thorough discussion on industry dynamics, returns on capital, valuations of comparable companies, relevant catalysts, and whether they were appropriately priced into the relevant securities.

Interview
On-campus interview it was a 2 on 1 interview, that was all. It hopefully will be longer next year, because they made an error in granting me this interview in the first place.
Interview Questions
They brought me in just to talk about my resume. Discovered I was only a sophomore. Someone made an error in even offering me an interview in the first place
Upon seeing I was a sophomore they realized that I was unqualified. The interviewers brought this up in the first 2 minutes of the interview and then said it was great meeting you. See you next year

Interview
The interview/ hiring process was about 3 hours where you meet a number of people. The interview is mostly just fit questions. Nothing too hard, everyone is very friendly, intelligent. Some mental brain teasers. I had to reach out to people to secure an interview but basically didn't seem too difficult. You go to their midtown office. They usually get back to you within 24 hours if you get the job, otherwise they didn't respond. The firm is very good and the interview process is very competitive. so don't expect to get it. You need to ace basically ever part of it.
Interview Questions
Why do you want to work here?
The company is great as well as the private side. I have always wanted to work in distressed. I also really like the atmosphere.
Where else are you interviewing?
Blackstone, KKR, TPR. I think this is my first choice by far though and would definitely take the offer.
