Founded in 1991 by its general partners, Michael Granger and Xcylur Stoakley, Ark Capital Management was organized to provide private equity investment management services to institutional investors.

Ark Capital Management organized and manages the Ark Direct Capital Fund, L.P., a private equity fund, providing growth equity and growth acquisition financing to middle market companies. The Ark Direct Capital Fund emphasized middle market investments in the domestic emerging markets. The Fund’s institutional investors include corporations, insurance companies, commercial banks and pension funds. The general partners of Ark Capital Management bring to this organization over 30 years of private equity investment experience including successful investments in the information technology sector, which enables the identification, selection and management of high potential companies. The partners' significant network of contacts and relationships is also a key enabling factor.

Ark Capital Management brings more than money to an investment. We provide professional capital to companies. We define professional capital as money plus business expertise. Our mission is to infuse capital and work closely with management to build significant companies with increased economic and strategic value.

The Fund has a particular emphasis on domestic emerging markets such as industries and geographies that are undercapitalized and emerging entrepreneurs who are outside of the traditional private equity network. It also pursues corporate spin-off opportunities. The emphasis on domestic emerging markets recognizes and addresses the opportunity to provide institutional private equity capital to finance rapid growth in these undercapitalized markets. Around the core emphasis, however, the Fund pursues a broader, more opportunistic investment program.
