Analyst Interview - Equity Research
The first interview was over Zoom with an analyst and was mostly behavioral. After this round, I was given a list of companies to choose from on the basis of which I had to submit a stock pitch. I was given a week's time to prepare the pitch.
In my second round with another analyst, I was asked questions around my stock pitch, especially around valuations since I had chosen a tech stock with negative net income. I was also asked about certain assumptions in my model.
A week later I was contacted for the final round with the PM. This round was more focused around my motivation behind switching from private market investing to public markets. After this round, I was turned down.
During the conversations with the team, I realized that the interviewers were very professional and spoke straight to the point. The questions I asked around the work culture and mentorship for less tenured analysts didn't elicit proper responses from the interviewers's end.
