Avalon has three general approaches for its managed accounts: Capital Appreciation, Income and Growth, and Specialty Income. Each client receives individualized attention to his or her investment goals and portfolios.

Avalon takes a fundamental approach towards investment decision-making. We favor stocks judged to be undervalued, based upon characteristics such as positive cash flow, balance sheet strength, price and earnings multiples, and business viability. We also invest in growth stocks from time to time if we believe there is a good valuation story, but we are not “momentum” investors. We want to protect your capital! For certain types of client accounts, we may also (if the client is willing) engage in short-selling and other defensive strategies. Stocks can and do get overvalued (sometimes very much so), regardless of what brokers and television analysts might tell you.
