Investment Banking Summer Analyst

OCR was a 2 on 1 interview. Questions were mostly resume, why BB&T CM, and technical. Technicals were: how do you value a company, a question about whether increasing GM by x% would be better than decreasing COGS by y%, valuation multiples and why they were used, etc.

Second round was about 12 1 on 1 interviews with analysts through MDs. Questions: what is CAGR and how do you calculate it, what industry do you think this company is in if I show you these financials, describe the sell side process, what 10 things would you ask management in order to value the company assuming you know nothing beforehand, cash flow statement questions, working capital adjustments, what is an LBO, how do you value a firm, what was the name of the person you just interviewed with, etc.

Office focuses mostly on sell side M&A for PE sponsors. The people there care much more about fit than technical knowledge. Rather Southern / frat attitudes.
