- Met with a recruiter during a campus info session at the beginning of my sophomore year and sent a thank-you email
- Stayed in touch throughout the year and followed-up in early march expressing my interest in IB opportunities
- Flew out to and met with recruiter for coffee and had an office tour at the BMO CM office in Toronto
- Introduced me to an associate in M&A for coffee
- Invited into the accelerated interview process at the beginning of June, final round interviews in July
- Three 30 min interviews (one behavioural, one technical, one personal)
- Interviews were with VP in M&A, MD in P&U, and VP in ECM
- Standard questions (what sector would you invest in, walking from EV to equity value, accounting questions, calculating equity value exercise, questions on working capital, why BMO, why investment banking)
- Received an offer but declined due to competing offer
