Investment Banking Winter Analyst (A&D)

After applying, I got a first-round in a couple of weeks. My first-round was a whole week away, giving me lots of time to prepare. They let me choose a time, but mostly mornings were available. The interview was conducted on Teams by a VP. The first-round screen was a very typical first-round interview with a mix of technicals and behaviorals. The behaviorals had a large emphasis on 'why Calgary' and 'why Energy', while the technicals were a mix of basic 400 IB questions and questions about the Canadian oil & gas space. Notably, technical questions involving oilfield engineering were avoided beyond 'what does an A&D team do'.

The next interview was with the group MD. Completely behavioral. I then had phone calls with one analyst and one associate individually, which were mostly behavioral with emphasis on what I knew about Canadian oil & gas and why Calgary. I met pretty much the entire team in one-on-one phone screens. After this, they gave me a decision 7 days later.
