Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The interview process was quite straightforward. The opportunity landed in my inbox in mid-November as the position opened. As a freshman internship, a transcript and resume was required but the ensuing Hirevue was far more important. The Hirevue arrived in my inbox around late December. Additionally, I did not perform any serious networking beyond a singular call with a recruiter with some relevant questions to the application. The hirevue was a selective process as some of my friends did not receive one. However, the hirevue itself was focused on behavioral questions with one general market trend question as well. In early January, I received notification that I qualified for a first-round behavioral interview. This interview was purely questions like "Why BMO" and "Why investment banking". A week later, I received notification of a final-round interview offer, which was technical in nature but not difficult. Some questions included "Tell me about a sector that would do well in a recession" and general market trend-type questions. Overall, the people who interviewed me were courteous (except for one very disinterested VP). The general office culture seems honestly quite good as far as banks go, and the recruiting team is extremely committed to retaining talent (as MM banks usually are). I'd recommend keeping up with markets through newsletters (Morning Brew, Bloomberg) and having a strong behavioral pitch.
