Interview
This was for an AM Investment team seat. First consisted of a phone interview with HR - basically all behavioral and background related. Why BMO, why you? This is your chance to sell yourself. I wasn't grilled too much because I submitted a detailed (& actionable) investment write up when I submitted my resume online. HR rep actually read this and said not many candidates submitted one up front, so she liked that and got a chance to see my work product. Second round was with head PM and two senior analysts. Questions consisted of my market knowledge, my investment pitch (note: a write up was apart of the process but I effectively by-passed it with my own work), the asset class itself and risk factors (duration, convexity, Duration times spread etc.). Here's your chance to demonstrate your knowledge and investment acumen. Final round was with head of the group, and 2 other PM's. Questions were around my investment pitch once again, why I'm suited for the role, what I can contribute to the team etc. more behavioral in nature because I think the decision to hire was already made at this point.
Interview Questions
Probably related to the factor risks. In certain AM roles you will have a very close proximity to portfolio management decisions and recommendations (even as a junior). Good to brush up on how risk is viewed in your asset class, the drivers of it, and potential ways to hedge.

Interview
- Applied early October online to office near my school
- Heard back with First Round interview on zoom with two first year analysts
-First round interview was 60% behaviorals, super in depth about my resume and on campus involvement, and then moved into basic finance technicals, $10 depreciation, accounting concepts, etc
Then moved to 2nd round with VPs, 100% behavioral, looked like a cultural fit (was with 2 VPs via zoom)
Final virtual superday with two MDs and a case study involving finding different ratios and metrics for a company based on their 10k (really easy gave us a weekend)
Got the offer same day as superday.
Interview Questions
No questions caught me off guard, just surprised by the case study at the end, make sure you understand debt and some basic repayment ratios and can throw together a powerpoint.

Interview
I applied online, after a couple weeks they reached out to me through email to do a one way interview. It consisted of behavioural questions like why choose BMO?, why BMO in this market state?, what is one thing that is not on your resume?
Interview Questions
It was unexpected that I was going to be asked about the economy and market because I was applied for a Business Analyst position. I didn't know that I was going to get asked about answering something that is not on my resume.

Interview
Pretty straightforward. The final round was a super day consisting of 1 technical case study and 2 behavioral interviews. They give you the case study 24 hours before so that you can prepare. The case study and one behavioral interview were pretty conversational and easygoing. The other behvaioral was rapid-fire questions with no responses from the interviewers.. just a head nod and then right to the next question. Felt weird.
After two weeks went by I followed up and got no response. Finally got a response a little over a month after the interviews.
Interview Questions
How much debt can a company afford to take on (in terms of interest coverage or leverage)?

Hired after internship. First call with campus recruiter was just screening, salary expectations, behavioral, why BMO, etc. Next was two interviews with different directors in commercial bank that asked mostly behavioral fit type questions, asked me one technical question that I didn't know the answer to and I still got the job. I did not have a case study so I'm not familiar, but have heard those are required of certain applicants (likely if they weren't a prior intern).
