Interview
After applying by sending my resume to the firm, I was invited to do an interview at their office. I was interviewed by one of the partners. It was extremely conversation and laid back. He asked about my resume, family background, interests, etc. Very light test of basic financial statement knowledge as well. I received an offer for the position a couple weeks later. The internship was 12 weeks with a $1,000 stipend. Culture was very casual, no suit and ties.
Interview Questions
There were no significantly difficult questions as long as you can converse fluidly and have an adequate understanding of financial statements and what mergers and acquisitions are. You will likely be asked personal questions about what you like to do, why you're interested in M&A, what other jobs you're considering, where you went/go to school, what do you do outside of school. These are all very easy if you have basic communication skills. There are no modeling or technical questions, nor is prior experience expected for an intern.
