The hiring process was pretty lengthy. It started with a quick phone interview followed by a writing sample based a random prompt that they provided. There was another phone interview to discuss my findings, where they assigned another writing assignment that was more financially oriented. Finally, I met with a couple of analysts in person at their office in Midtown.
Interview Questions
The first writing sample was an in-depth analysis of the immuno-oncology landscape. Since the prompt was very broad, it was hard to narrow findings from various therapy areas into a few pages. Im sure I could have written a whole 100 page report, but an important part of the process was to identify what was important and what could be left out. All in all it was a lot of research for an early part of the interview process, especially compared to other equity research positions in New York City.
