Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I interviewed for a full time Investment Banking Analyst position. The interview process, or at least mine, consisted of three stages. The first stage was a very brief phone call where a Y2 Analyst asked me to walk through my resume/tell them about myself, why Centerview, and a few other basic behaviourals/"background check" questions. After this, the next stage was a phone call with an Associate-- this was a standard get to know you coffee chat, where it was mainly them assessing you and if they like to be around you/can tolerate being near you for long hours. Nothing technical asked here, again more of a "vibe" check. For the third and final interview, I spoke with an Analyst, Associate, VP, and MD-- again, this round was extremely behavioural and asked the same "Why do you want to work at Centerview Partners?" and "Why do you want a career in Investment Banking?" questions. You have to know your behaviourals and your few stories like the back of your hand if you are interviewing for CVP. There was also one case study in this round about a tech company (I believe most of their cases are about healthcare or tech companies as they are such a big focus at CVP)-- the case was mostly focused on valuation/accounting questions (such as EV, EBITDA, how you'd value the company (the 3 types)), and then the rest of the interview was behavioural.
