Interview Questions
Market expectations of FED's interest rate hike is already factored into the bond's price so that is why the bond's price is not impacted. Stock pitch. Grilled on the industry and why I thought its high P/E ratio was justified. I focused on how it is inflated due to low earnings during COVID and that before COVID it's P/E was in line with the industry average and there were great opportunities for future growth. Also asked about bond duration and convexity from a very high level. Just glance of these before the interview and you should be fine. Who is the Citi CEO?

Phone Interview
Interview
I was selected for a first-round phone interview with their group in San Francisco. I got to a target school, so they were supposed to be on-campus but were moved to the phone.
Interview Questions
I was asked a lot of questions about personal accomplishment and struggles. I also got some questions on typical technical material like accounting, valuation, accretion and dilution, and LBO. Overall, it wasn't very hard, I was just a little thrown by the more behavioral questions they asked. I also had to walk them through my resume in-depth and explain several projects I worked on in previous jobs. The interviewer was very kind and super conversational, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

3, What are some potential opportunities for Citi?
...
B. Technical Questions:

Interview
three weeks or so after app I received the interview invitation and the interview is group on cases. they ask about wall street journals and other technical questions just to make sure you are interested in finance.
Interview Questions
Some of the difficult part might be the group form which some of us do not used to. But other than that, it all just basic technical questions asking about debt and equity and risks around issuing them. For the cases, it is more like wall street journal articles and we talked about them like morning meeting in the workplace. so nothing would be unexpected i would say. just make sure to stand out in group interview cause you have limited time speaking to the interviewers. good luck on that people.

1st round is written test + technicals (group interview), 2nd round is group discussion on a assigned reading
Interview Questions
The most difficult technical was a question on accretion/dilution. Interviewer asks each person 1 or 2 questions and goes around the table, you can raise hand to answer questions if others are stuck. Questions in general are not difficult, but the atmosphere could be a little stressful as everyone else is watching you. I would say if you know the answer, show that you know. The group discussion topic was on the trade war, I think making a point that is unique and insightful is more important than being the 1st one to speak.

Interview
Contacted by HR 2 weeks after applying, turnover time was extremely fast, interviewed via 30 minute phone call 2 days later. Interview was with 2 team members, basic walk me through your resume, why IB questions. Technical questions were basic, very market oriented, should have pitched something other than equities when asked.
Interview Questions
The most unexpected question asked was pitch something other than a stock. That question threw me off, as I had only prepped stocks. Lots of questions regarded what is currently going on in the market, other than nothing was too out of the ordinary. Make sure to have other investment vehicles ready to be pitched, as well as be up to date on market trends and the global economy. Only one or two basic accounting questions, no valuation questions, no M&A or LBO. Interviewers were extremely friendly.

Group Interview
Interview
Applied online after networking aggressively with a few VPs and MDs. Two interview rounds - one online group session and a skype one to one.
Interview Questions
The interview starts with a 10 pager outlining a number of current affairs that serve as talking points. Interview is broken up into two parts.
First is a general Q&A aimed at testing knowledge. Be prepared to answer in depth questions on trade finance, global payments and fintech. The level of knowledge required, specifically for the latest trends in fintech, is well above what you might read in the tabloids.
1 - Given the recent rate hike in the US, how do you see this impacting our HK office?
2 - Where do you see fintech in the global payments space and how would you position the bank?
3 - How would you advise a corporate client heavily capitalised in USD in the current climate?

Second part of the interview is an open panel on the 10 pager you're given before the interview.
