Interview
Submitted my resume for initial pre-screening. Got an email from a VP asking to do a phone interview that same week. Phone interview was strictly fit, very cordial, just trying to get to know me, my interests, why IB, etc. Was invited to on-campus 1 on 1 interview with a different VP. Combination of fit and technical. Know general financial statements, valuation methods, WACC, how discount rate affects value.
Interview Questions
Walk me through the DCF from start to finish?

Just be able to start with an income statement for year X, convert to FCF, project FCF and Horizon Value. Then walk through WACC and how to discount using WACC. Might ask you how you would do it differently in excel.

Phone Interview
Interview
I saw a posting on my OCR, so I reached out to a VP and it became an phone interview. He basically asked about my background(valuation intern) and why I wanted to do IB. After the behavioral, he started asking technical questions such as valuation methodologies and LBO. As a valuation intern, I had no LBO experience, so he switched to accounting questions (depreciation effects on the three financial statements/100m PPE purchased with debt). I did the first part of the questions right and screwed up on the last part.

Applied on career services site and was notified of my selection for OCR. Met 1 on 1 with an associate at the firm. Really laid back, spoke a lot about their training program and the amount of responsibility analysts have. Overall an enjoyable interview despite not proceeding to Superday.
Interview Questions
$100 Capital Expenditure at end of the year. Talk about how that affects the three financial statements in that year as well as the following.

Phone Interview
Interview
I was reached out to by an associate after my information was passed on through an employee of the firm. The phone interview consisted of fit questions for the first half. I was very surprised by the amount of technical questions given on the phone interview. The firm takes on 3-4 Summer Analysts and each spends 2 weeks working with the firm.
Interview Questions
The most difficult questions for me were conceptual technical questions about the different valuation metrics. I had not anticipated these on the phone interview and was not completely prepared. Ex. What kind of company would you use EV / Revenue, instead of EV / EBITDA

The interview was short. Since I do not have merge & acquisition background, the interviewer did not ask many questions and the entire phone interview was only 15 mins long.
