The hiring process at DaVinci Trading began with an online assessment. After completing it, I was contacted by HR via email to arrange an interview. The interview was conducted over the phone by a member of the HR team.

The questions were straightforward and covered a mix of topics. The first part focused on general HR-style questions about my background and understanding of the company. This was followed by some quick mental math problems and a few light, miscellaneous questions such as my favorite sports player.

The interviewer was friendly and conversational, which made the experience relaxed. From my experience, it’s clear that DaVinci Trading places a strong emphasis on genuine interest in trading. They look for candidates who can clearly demonstrate motivation and intent to pursue a career in this field.

My advice for future candidates would be to research the company thoroughly, understand its culture and approach to trading, and be ready to discuss why you’re passionate about trading in general. Showing clear enthusiasm and self-driven curiosity seems to matter as much as technical skill.

Interview process was good. Initial mental math test, followed by a coding test. HR interview which ended with rapid fire questions such as "What's your favorite color?", "What's 6 * 76?", more rapid fire questions and then "What's the prodcut you got minus 263?

Got to the techincal which consisted of option theory, followed by a brain teaser that kept on going with many follow up questions. Did not make it past this.

The first stage is a CV screen and after that you are given an online numerical assessment (mainly probability, statistics and some linear algebra). If you pass, you get called to an hr interview to understand your motivations and knowledge about the company, Then it a technical interview with a trader mainly on options and betting games. Did not get pass this round but after this the final round is another technical interview.

Step 1: A 10 min mental math test consisting of 60 questions (found this to be tougher than Optiver/ Flow's test)
Step 2: A 150 min hackerrank programming assesment wherein you had to implement a simple trading strategy
Step 3: Interview with the recruiter consisting of questions on background, motivation and 1 expected value question
Step 4: Technical Interview with a quant consisting of a market making game based on a deck of cards. Questions revolved around expected value of sum of three cards, deviations etc

Math test, HR interview, 2 on 1 interview (technical, options theory, statistics/probability questions)

First, you have to take an online math test that is quite tough. Practice math problems beforehand. Than you have an interview with HR about motivational fit. After that, there is an interview with a Senior Trader with some puzzles and a market making game.

1) Around 50 tough questions in 10 minutes. Its much tougher than what you might get at Optiver screening. Thus need not complete all. No calculator allowed but you may find your ways. But have to have speedy calculations. I did around 35 with around 95% perfection. So around 33 got me interview.
2) HR Screening: To just talk about your motivation and see if your mental math is really what you claim and not just calculator usage. Question like: 8/17 till 4th precision. Follow up question tell me now 5th decimal along with previous 4. That means memory + precision. Now asked my confidence on answer if I was willing to gamble my interview result on that?. I was almost sure so I bet 99.5% percent and yes for interview. Indeed I was right. Rest was general Family background or even getting to know how you are as a person. Be frank and if coming from humble background speak it up. No worries. They love it.
3) 1 on 1 with head of quant(TJ): Multiple estimations, market making questions. Asked about open position and PnL. I talked about my love and mastery over Chess. Next MM question was Total number of moves played from both sides in last GM championship Vishy Anand vs Magnus. 11 games in total so made markets. He provided newer info 2 times about game 1 and 2 moves and checked my market. Question 2: 4 Cards(2 Red + 2 Black). Bet money on four outcomes of card picking at random one by one. Different scenarios: Bet on 1 = Red. Opposite info for 1 given(Black). Now bet on 2 = Red. I went on Variance minimizing strategy which is I think perfect. But my mistake was when I was provided 4:1 Margin I changed it to Mean maximizing strategy under pressure and improper calculations.
So I believe MM and betting errors were problem for me for not getting to next round.

But their procedure is well defined and good.

There programming test consist of evaluating a trading strategy. Didn't passed. No feedback and no idea what they are looking for.
