Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Interview
This interview started at a career fair where I was offered a phone interview. This was relatively easy then I was offered a 1 on 1 interview on campus - this was mostly behavioral "will you fit in with the team questions". Following this was an in person interview at the office where I was interviewed by 3 different staff members of my team (ranging from junior to senior). They again asked behavioural questions and wanted to get an idea of my background/capabilities (i.e. do I have to be hand held). Know about the company and the culture before you interview. It is a competitive role, so make sure you explain how you will add value, that seems to be what they are looking for. Dell is in a transition period so they seemed to look for people who can hit the ground running.
Interview Questions
Mostly behavioral questions or general competency questions rather than technical questions. I think they know they are interviewing for an entry level role but they definitely don't want a novice. Answer questions carefully and demonstrate capabilities.

- What is the most challenging role/task you have had?
- In "insert scenario" what would you do? There were several questions like this ranging from "meet tight deadlines" to "not getting on with a team on one of your rotations".
- If you did something wrong, what would you do?

Interview
Recruiter called me about corporate strategy opportunity at Dell with a focus on strategic sourcing. I wasn't terribly enthused but thought I would give them a shot. Had 1 phone interview with the director leading the search with no further contact.
Interview Questions
My friend's son ran a lemonade stand yesterday and made almost no money. Why do you think this might be the case? Had to think about all sorts of factors including time of day, location, price, product, advertising, weather, service quality, store layout, competition, owner experience, etc.
Why do you want to work for Dell? Why do you want to focus on strategic sourcing? These were difficult questions since I wasn't totally sure about either. In retrospect I don't think I would have pursued this opportunity to interview stage if I had it to do over again.

Interview
I first met Dell representatives at the ALPFA 2014 National Convention. The recruiter told me about their rotational program, which consists of six month rotations over a period of two years. One rotation may be international if you are among the highest performing analysts. I had a phone interview following that. The interview was behavioral in nature and the only questions related to Dell specifically were about my knowledge of the industries and Dell's newest products. The rest of the interview consisted of standard behavioral scenarios (tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult team, when you failed, etc.)
Interview Questions
Since this was an international program, the recruiter was very interested in any international experiences I had. I told them I had visited the Dell offices in Singapore and she was interested in finding out more about how I had dealt with the culture shock.
Towards the end of the interview, the recruiter asked me if I knew what was currently going on in the industry and some of Dell's newest products. I mentioned the decline in PC sales and their new products in the tablet space.
