Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
In full disclosure, I go to a target school (Ivies), and my GPA is pretty low (3.0-3.4).

For summer analyst recruiting, Deutsche Bank initially came on campus in November to hold its information session. I did my best to network with these alumni, essentially getting in touch and meeting with almost all of the ones who attended the information session. Resume drops for my school closed in January, so after applying through OCR, I was notified about a week later about first round interviews to be held on-campus. For those who would move on past the 1st round, there would be a dinner that night and the Super Day, also on-campus, would be held the next day, which would be two 2-on-1 interviews (this last point is according to a couple of analysts with whom I had spoken).

The interview was a 1-on-1 interview with an analyst who is an alumnus. It was fairly standard as far as I could tell -- standard fit questions and a DCF question. The focus was primarily on fit. I didn't move on past the first round.

My overall perception of the people I met in the process is positive. As a firm, DB seems relatively laidback, and everyone I had met was friendly and very open to speaking with me. Additionally, the analysts I know at the firm were top students at my school, if that's of any interest.

While I'm disappointed I didn't move on past the first round, I certainly feel grateful for the opportunity. Some advice that I think would be useful, though not particularly groundbreaking, would be:
1) Networking is extremely important. Despite my GPA, I got several interviews almost certainly due to my extensive networking.
2) Have a very solid grasp on your resume. For me, at least, I was fairly unprepared to talk about some points of my resume, and I think this probably hurt me the most. If you think you need it, I would be ready with a couple of points for each activity, experience, etc. on your resume in case you're asked to go more in-depth.
