Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Started networking at Out for Undergrad Business Conference. Kept in touch with an ECM MD (In person and via email). In late December, got notice of an off cycle superday in January. Someone from HR simply emailed me with the interview time slot. On the day of, the front desk wouldn't let me upstairs until 10 minutes before the interview; I hadn't seen another interviewee all day both inside and outside the building, so I'm not sure how many were invited. I'm assuming the number was small. I had a 30min. first round at 10AM with an associate, who said someone was supposed to join him. I personally prefer 1-on-1 so that was good for me. We started out by talking about why I'm here, why I'm interested in this job, a little bit about DB. Then we got more personal with the resume. We didn't really hammer out details on things I listed in my resume, it was more about getting a fuller picture of who I am and what I'm capable of. Then I was asked the "one technical question he always asks", which was: a company makes a $10M cash outlay for CapEx. Tell me what happens on the BS in year 0, and then in year 1. I answered it in 30 seconds. We then had another 10 minutes and we just killed the time with my resume's interests section.
I got called back 15 minutes later. I had an hour of 2 separate 30 min interviews. First interviewer was head of FIG and we just shot the breeze, starting the conversation with where I was born/went to school. But it still felt like a test of my ability to carry a conversation. I made a few blunders when I got serious without a good reason to. Next interviewer was a director from Consumers. Bonded with him, but he was more keen on hammering out specifics in my resume. Had to do some quick thinking.
