A recruiter reached out to me about the opportunity. The first call was a screen with one of the bankers: no technicals, just behaviorals, and fairly light at that. About a week later I moved to the next round, an interview with an MD. It was definitely a step up in difficulty. He was a very straight shooter and asked technical, behavioral, and deal questions back to back. Questions included:

Which of our deals did you like?
What deals have you done, and what were the company names?
How does the NWC peg work?
What is the difference between backlog, bookings, etc.?
What is a deal you’re following in the market?

My advice: know the firm’s recent deals and the industry well enough to talk through one or two, and make sure your technicals are solid, including questions on more senior deal dynamics. Also keep in mind I interviewed for one particular office/industry, so I'm sure MD personality and questions will vary.
