Presentation
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Started off with a phone interview by a VP after I submitted my resume. I was brought back for a super day in the New York office, where there were about 50 other candidates. During the course of the day, I had eight interviews with VPs, Directors, and MDs. Most were fit oriented, though some valuation questions were asked. We were also divided up into teams and had to do a case study and presentation. After the interviews, we were taken to dinner at a nice steakhouse. Some of the VPs got pretty drunk and we got to talk with the head of investment banking over drinks before dinner. Everyone seemed pretty cool. Most went to good schools and they seemed to be really focused on growing the relatively small, middle-market business. One thing they mentioned is that in addition to traditional investment banking (M&A), is that we'd be doing restructuring work as well as transaction opinions, which are very valuation heavy.
