Consultant Interview - Healthcare
After that round, I was asked to complete two assessments: a writing test and an Excel test. The writing portion involved drafting a memo to a client who was unhappy with the services received from the firm. The Excel portion was about 30 minutes and tested familiarity with pivot tables, IF statements, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP formulas, and other standard Excel functions.
One important thing to note is that the Excel assessment uses a simulated Excel interface. Unlike actual Excel, it does not prompt you with what needs to be entered next in a formula, so you need to know the formula structure ahead of time.
The next round consisted of a series of interviews with three senior leaders, including a senior manager, principal, and partner. These interviews were mostly behavioral and situational. For example, questions included prompts like, “Tell me about a time you used analytics to solve a problem,” along with similar experience-based questions. Using the STAR method seemed to help me throughout those interviews.
After that round of interviews, HR reached out with an update on my application, accepted the offer.
