Interview
I applied Echelon's Wealth via a friend's referral. Phone interview with HR and then invited to meet two VP's. One was very friendly, the other one didn't really care. Was looking at his phone all the time and messaging people. I think that was made to stress me or to play the good cop back cop style of interview. A week later, received a call from HR again and was told that I wasn't selected.
Questions were about fit, what are my plans in the future, what would I invest in with 1 Mil, how to decide if I want to invest in a company`Investment Checklist ( I said EVA, which they liked ).
I'm in school (Master's) and have big ambitions, they wanted someone to stay in that position forever which is mainly administrative and they didn't plan on promoting the selected candidate into an analyst position or else.
Interview Questions
Like mentioned before, the interview was fairly simple. They really wanted to see if you are a good communicator, can work overtime (a lot), speak to clients and often times, attend meetings with them (sell-side companies trying to sell their funds to Echelon so that they can offer those to their clients). The hardest part was to stay focused while the second VP was going through his phone that was constantly vibrating on the table by the way. Questions were the typical ones: Tell me more about yourself, what interests you in finance, strengths, weaknesses, what motivates you in life, where do you see yourself in 5 years, what is happening in the economy, etc. They ask that even if it's an administrative role for some reason. If they have an opening, they might be able to promote you, but as I mentioned, they were looking for someone that remains in that position for a very long time.

Interview
I cold-emailed the firm and got an interview 2 weeks later. 2 on 1 in-person interview at its office. Questions were pretty standard and it's a one hour interview with 2 associates.
Interview Questions
You have to know your past work experience in details and summarize how it relates to banking.
Also prepare a stock pitch and make sure you know the company and the risk that it faces.
The rest was mostly standard accounting and valuation questions:
How to build a DCF? How to calculate WACC? How to value a private company? Analyze cost of debt and cost of equity?
How purchasing an equipment with 50% debt and 50% equity affect 3 statements? In year 0 and year 1? assume tax rate and depreciation
