Interview
Interview with Director of Technology (also a quant). I was surprised to hear that I was the only person to submit a cover letter. He asked about how recently I had used various technologies like SQL or Access or Python. I think in didn't think my Python experience was recent enough (last used 6 months from the interview). He also wanted to know why I was interested in working at a hedge fund. That question isn't unexpected, but because the fund was so small I think my answer to the question revealed some kind of cultural unfitness. The risk you run when you're interviewing at hedge funds that aren't Mega Funds Is that the team is so lean that you really need to be an excellent cultural fit so it's easy on get dinged.
