financial advisor Interview - Wealth Management
After advancing to the next stage, I was invited to prepare a Business Plan Presentation, where I acted as an “Advisor” presenting to a panel of “Clients.” Equitable provided clear guidelines, example presentations, and emphasized creativity and professionalism. The exercise tested my ability to think like an advisor — identifying potential clients, developing relationship-building strategies, and outlining how I would grow a book of business.
The process was designed to simulate the real-world responsibilities of a financial professional at Equitable. It allowed candidates to demonstrate initiative, organization, and business development thinking, rather than just interview performance. The experience was highly engaging and provided valuable insight into the firm’s emphasis on entrepreneurial growth, client trust, and advisory excellence.
Another unexpected challenge was being asked how I would handle rejection or client hesitation, and to describe how I would maintain motivation in the face of setbacks. These questions required genuine self-reflection and an understanding of the persistence and emotional intelligence needed for a client-facing advisory role.
Overall, the questions tested not only technical and communication skills but also my entrepreneurial mindset, resilience, and ability to think independently — qualities that define successful advisors at Equitable.
