Interview
Farlie Turner ran a quick and concise interview process. I spoke with several of the senior bankers on the phone and then was invited for an in-person interview. I planned/prepared for my interview using basic behavioral, investment banking, and technical prep guides. The office, people, and culture seemed really great. The senior bankers seemed laid back rather than some hawks you may encounter on other interviews. It seemed like a really fast-growing firm with a lot of opportunity. The VP's and Associates seemed like reasonable people and good to work with. The office is in a really great location in Ft. Lauderdale. There may have been some concerns with my lack of ties to the South Florida area.
Interview Questions
Technical Finance questions were very basic, including explaining the three statements and how they connect, how Net Income is connected by all three statements, and some basic questions on enterprise value, walking through a DCF, and the three main ways to value companies (DCF, Public Comps, M&A Comps).
Some minor excel questions were asked and the interviewees seemed to place a higher value on excel skills than some other interviews I had encountered.
