Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
I am skeptical of any job where the hiring firm is pitching you on why you should work for them. This interview process was a disaster. I took an interview after knowing very little of the company. They put every student in one room and tell them how much money they "could" be making by end of year one. Very unprofessional and unrealistic.
Interview Questions
Nothing out of the ordinary. Everything was personality based. We met as a large group with two to three people. After a 20minute pitch about why the company is great you break off with one on one's with current employees. You meet two or three current people who basically ask why you want to work there and if you think you would be a good fit with their culture.
There were zero technical questions.
It was basically :
"Do you have a grandmother?"
Yes.
"Can we have her phone number to sell her our crappy products?"
No.

Interview
My mother works with someone, who is the wife of a Vice President at Federated Investors in the Pittsburgh location. Through her, I was able to get in touch with the VP. He called me for an informational interview in November 2012 and I was able to tell him about myself, some of the college experiences I had been in, as well as some of the classes I was taking. He also spent several minutes explaining his role in the company as well as what the company does (for example, he talked about what mutual finds are and what Federated offers clients).

Over the next couple of months, I was in touch with him via email; I sent him my resume and he asked me to revise it a couple of times before he passed it onto the HR department.

In April 2013, I was finally contacted by a women from the HR department. She kindly explained that they had already hired enough interns for Summer 2013, but she still wanted to talk to me to get to know me. So I went through another informational interview with her, talking about many of the same things as I did with the VP months earlier. At the end, she thanked me and said she would let me know if any new opportunities opened up. Of course, I plan to stay in touch with the VP and apply again for Summer 2014.

Networked with senior PM to get a interview. Was first contacted by HR to go through some basic behavioral questions via the telephone. 2-3 weeks later I received a call asking if I could come in for an interview.
