Interview
The process went well. I had networked with several people at the firm prior to the interview. Mostly behavioral with a few technicals near the end. The first-round interview lasted around 20 minutes. Some of the questions were: Fit questions: - Why investment banking? - Why should we hire you? - Why this location? - What makes you a perfect candidate for IB? Technical questions: - If you had to choose one financial statement to evaluate a company, what would it be and why? - What valuations methods do you know of? - Which company would be a good candidate for a leverage buyout analysis?

Interview Questions
Surprisingly, the hardest questions were not the usual technical questions but more the intuitive questions.
They asked me questions specifically about the lower middle market.
They told me it is tough to get financial information in the lower middle market, and they asked me how I would go about getting this information.
They also mentioned that many of these companies are small, and so some information might not be kept as well as larger companies. I was not expecting this question, as I had prepared with the regular questions.
Another question they asked was how do conduct due diligence.
