One of the few investment banks in Kansas - Comes to our school for recruiting. No phone interview - just a dinner before interviews and then a superday. Very laid back and nice guys - CEO involved in the superday and dinner given the smaller size of the firm - just expecting you to be a very long them hire.
Interview Questions
The average tenure of an employee here is 15 years. How do I know you are not just going to jump to another bank? (Seriously, wtf in an SA interview...)
Why GKB and why Kansas City? (Know this - and be able to defend it)
Brain teaser: You have 100 balls. 50 red ones and 50 black ones. You also have two buckets. You need to randomly draw one red ball for me to give you an offer. How do you separate the balls into the bucket to give you the best chance of selecting a red ball? (put one red ball in one bucket and the other 99 into the other bucket - then you have 100%*.5 +~50%*.5 or 75% chance)

Interview
The hiring process was very positive. Consisted of a few group interviews. Firm brought in about 15 people to interview for the job. The people were very nice and it seems like a great place to be if you are interested in municipal finance.
Interview Questions
The interview was fairly straightforward. Be sure to know your municipal bonds (revenue / GO) and other things that go into government finance. These can be things like how bonds are repaid through tax revenues or project revenues etc.
Have a good explanation for why muni finance specifically. I have a feeling most public finance groups are keen to people using it is a backup plan to M&A etc.
