HFBE was founded in 1991 by Alex Howard, William Frazier, Donald Barker and Charlie Elliott who saw the need to provide quality valuation and financial advisory for clients. The firm has grown to include additional financial advisory services and investment banking with particular focus in the real estate and energy industries. In 1999 HFBE Capital, LP was established as a broker/dealer.

Today HFBE is a firm with approximately 30 employees in two offices, Houston and Dallas, Texas. HFBE continues to be the premier valuation firm particularly for high-risk valuations, while also providing investment banking services to middle market companies and assisting real estate developers in financing their acquisition or development activities with institutional capital.
