Interview
Got invited for a first round interview with Intrepid Partners IB, which focuses exclusively on on O&G in Houston. Definitely a more buttoned-up, cliquey culture but still an exceptional group based on my interactions.

Had coffee chats that went well over the phone and talked with some of the team at the information session on campus as well. Interview openings were sent out via an application on an internal school site, and they selected candidates for both interview and alternate spots.

The interview structure was in-person and (mostly) straightforward. I was asked basic behavioral (WMTYR, why energy, etc.) and surface-level industry knowledge questions. Much of the technical side of the interview (aside from common 400 questions) was a discussion around the WACC curve (drawn out) and more complex scenarios that would alter it that were energy-specific and general.

Didn't get superday, but still a great process and shop.
Interview Questions
WACC curve question - be prepared with knowledge of how specific situations can alter the curve (taxes, more of X/Y/Z combined), even ones that are indeterminate. There is no definitive answer for some, so be sure to explain your reasoning in a concise manner. They walk you through, and are trying to see how you think, so be sure to provide enough context.

Interview
Pretty basic, networking and you should get first round. Very difficult technicals. Make sure you know Debt curves. Didn't get superday but know people who did.
Interview Questions
Drawing WACC for debt capital and equity. Be prepared to be able to explain all your answers. Can't just know the answer have to be able to work it out.

Interview
Company had a few events at the university where you were able to meet members from various levels and set up calls. This led to more referrals and eventually the first round interview.
Interview Questions
Nothing overly difficult, although they stressed and asked many questions about passion for the energy industry, given that they are an energy investment bank. Asked about the energy verticals and what your preference would be.
Very basic technical questions involving valuation, DCF, multiples, and energy specifics. Must know valuation in relation to energy as that varies from traditional means, especially in upstream.
