Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I submitted my application online and heard back from a recruiter within about a week; they scheduled a ~30–45-minute video call for the first round. The interviewer (a trader) began with a few behavioural questions (why quant trading, why Jane Street), then moved into technical puzzles focused on probability, expected value and strategic games (e.g., “you start with 100 chips, how would you bet in this dice game?”). The tone was conversational — you’re encouraged to think out loud, ask clarifying questions and show your reasoning rather than just deliver an answer. No prior finance or derivative knowledge was required. At the end of the call the recruiter told me I should expect feedback within a week. The people I spoke with came across as expert but friendly, the culture seems intellectually rigorous yet collaborative (rather than adversarial), and the office environment is described as casual dress with strong support for work-life balance.
