Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Received the first interview on-campus through OCR and networking efforts. Reached out to prior alums and learned about the company - raved about its culture. On-campus interview experience was very positive. Interviewer and I had immediate chemistry and the interview was all behavioral after that - no technical questions. Asked about my internship experience to demonstrate technical abilities. Was invited to Super Day where I was interviewed by 5 MDs and 2 associates - great culture, laid back atmosphere. Everyone was looking mostly for fit. One MD did ask fairly difficult technical questions about deferred tax liabilities. Firm really looked for people that would gel within the office and work well with senior management and junior analysts alike. Excellent experience - everyone is down to earth and accessible and were very open to probing questions. Fit questions were fairly standard for MM banking - why Middle Market, why JMP, why investment banking, why a certain vertical, why capital raising, why M&A, etc. Really tried to understand you, your background, and your internship experience. Internship experience definitely matters here - be able to talk in depth about your work and what you did over the summer.
